cactusjack Report post Posted March 23, 2019 Its posted on gunbroker https://www.gunbroker.com/item/805477520 The 300 Tejas cartridge is basically a 300 Remington Ultra Mag “improved.” The 300 Tejas is a 300 RUM with the cases walls and length at the shoulder slightly expanded. This allows for a larger case capacity and higher velocity than the 300RUM - approximately 150fps faster but due the fact this rifle has a 28 inch barrel it is close to 250 fps faster. The rifle has about a 60 rounds through it and I have chronographed 180 grain bullets at 3300 to 3390 fps. The rifle will shoot both 300 RUM and 300 Tejas. In order to create a 300 Tejas cartridge case you simply load a 300RUM case in the rifle and fire it. The case will fireform to the 300 Tejas dimensions in the process. At this point, if you are a reloader, you can simply reload the case and shoot it as a 300 Tejas, if not, then just continue using 300 RUM ammo. It would be kind of a shame though not to take advantage of the improved performance of the 300 Tejas. Obviously a reloader will get the most from this rifle The rifle has never been out in the field and has no dings, dents or damage and will shoot three shot groups measuring .264 to .45 inch at 100 yards depending on the load, bullet type, powder type, etc.
n2horns Report post Posted March 23, 2019 Hot dang, that is a very nice rifle. This is the setup I have been wanting to do instead of crossing into the 338 spectrum.
