NOFX Report post Posted March 4, 2008 I just got my hands an a pair of used Swaro 10X42 SLC's for a killer price. I am the kind of hunter who likes to travel light. So, if I could find a way around buying and packing a spotting scope I would be all over it. Are the doublers, triplers or boosters worth the money? I would only use it to judge the quality of a buck that I have already glassed up. Is it worth the money? or should I just nut up and buy/carry a spotting scope? I only ask because those that I have talked to have givin me different reports. Of course, I guess I could just stalk in closer for a closer look, which has been my strategy up to date. Coach Report post Posted March 4, 2008 Well, I have the 15's and the doubler and I have to admit, I haven't found the double all that useful. The problem is the mechanics of unscrewing one of the eye pieces to attach the doubler then finding the deer again. It's hard to relocate the deer and the added magnification is not the same clarity as the binos themselves. On the other hand, I also have a spotting scope that I rarely carry because of its bulk and the need for a heavier tripod. I also go very light. It's a great concept, but I would not pay extra for it. In a perfect situation, like a bedded buck, it could give you an extra edge, but if the deer is moving at all, I think you'll find yourself fidgeting with the doubler trying to make out that smallest detail only to get frustrated. I ended up leaving my double at home even though it is very easy to pack - it just didn't work in the hunting situations I encountered. Just my $.02 for what it's worth. azcouesandelk Report post Posted March 4, 2008 Look at the Jim White Tripler. I know doug (Red Rabbit) and Jim (Coosefan) did a review on the site for it. Also I believe that Amanda sells them on the website.
Diamondbackaz Report post Posted March 4, 2008 I researched this doubler thing couple of years ago and everyone said it was a waste of money. There is always used ones for sale because of this.

firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted March 4, 2008 Look at the Nikon Field scope spotter. 2 years ago, I guided the owner of 23hourcampfire.com and he had every freakin optic known to man! ( he had swaro, leica, zeiss and this nikon spotter which was just a prototype) so of course in the middle of the day we set them up. I knew where some does would bed every day and sure enough, they were there and we put all the spotters right on them. I tell ya, this nikon hung with the swaro, leica and zeiss soptters! The thing is freakin light as all get out, and super tiny but the quality of glass is amazing! http://www.cameralandny.com/optics/nikon.pl?page=nikon8320 this is the one that he had, and I have not looked through the others. Coues 'n' Sheep Report post Posted March 4, 2008 I use to have a doubler....I think my boy lost it for me.... They work alright... but there is no substitute for a good spotting scope. IMO
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted March 4, 2008 If you don't want to haul a spotting scope around, then the tripler is a fine substitute. It's way better than the swaro doubler (which I agree is a waste of time and money). But also remember, the tripler isn't a replacement for a scope, just an alternative. Jim is currently still out of the triplers, but I think he will have some after the show and may even have a couple at the ISE show this weekend. But I should be able to start selling them again after the ISE show. He had trouble getting a reliable supplier for the parts. Amanda

Do you know if there will be any price change with the new batch? Where does the line start?
