ihunt Report post Posted February 24, 2008 this was a very cool stand, i was perched atop a cliff overlooking a clearing in the canyon below, and had my caller set out on a bench where i would be able to see anything coming in from the opposite side of the canyon, and down the canyon, figuring the wind would give me away to anything up canyon. about 10 minutes into my call, i noticed a fox running in, jumping over some rocks... so i readied myself, but 4 minutes later he still hadn't appeared. i changed to a vole squeak, but turns out, it hung up just in the trees about 20 yards from my call, and i could hear it snarling at the sound... but i couldn't see it. then the fox moved up to get the wind and i finally saw it, but only had a head shot, at about 50 yards. i passed. then the fox moved out of sight, but i couldn't see it... the growling, however, was getting louder, and i thought to myself.... "it's coming up here". a few moments later and the fox came bouncing and snarling up on top about 20 feet away from me, without knowing i was there... i thought, what the heck, and shot.... missed. it ducked out and then i saw another animal run toward me, just off to my right... i noticed the short tail and cursed myself for taking the shot at the fox... the cat ran about 30 yards away from me, from front to back, and i took another shot on the run this time.... miss. frustrated, i turned back to see the fox bounce back up to the rock it was on when i missed, so i aimed, fired, nailed it. it turned and danced its way down into a crevice in the rocks, so i turned back to where the cat had run off to, and saw it had stopped about 40 yards away... i aimed, fired... then didn't see it run off. i walked the short distance to find it laying there where I had shot it. it was a small female with very orange fur, weighed about 15 lbs. i picked it up, walked back to my stand, then grabbed the fox. all in all it was probably the most exciting thing i've ever experienced. except maybe my daughter's birth. this makes three cats, a fox and a coyote for a friend in 15 days, it's almost going to my head. love the foxpro. azhuntnut Report post Posted February 25, 2008 I have had that same exact thing happen to me, but I didn't have a weapon with me. To my suprise, the bobcat chased the fox for a bit and then turned and came after me. I stopped within a couple yards after throwing some rocks and yelling. That is going to be some good looking fur hanging on the wall for sure. David
