The update I got at lunch yesterday was:

He said it was recovered a few yrs ago, possibly as old as in 2020

What area was it found. A lot of people on here spent a lot of time looking for it.

Definitely on the rez, maybe on or near Mt Baldy? I wasn't paying too close of attention to the story.

 

Seems you've been in contact w/ the pilot/owner. Have you reached out to him in attempt to satisfy the interest of all the people who spent a lot of time searching?

I'm going to message the pilot for more info but I'm not optimistic.

My guess.  The guy offering the reward kept his 20k.  Won't be be paying it out either.

Reward was up to $40K end of 2019

Nope.

I don't know how it works with rewards and I never read the actual reward info, or at least don't remember.  But if someone randomly called in a potential methlab and authorities found it organically the info of who called it in probably never even made it to the owner.  

Also, I doubt the cop that found it is even allowed to accept the reward for doing his job.  I would think they have policies in place for stuff like that.  I suppose the law enforcement agency could accept a donation as a whole though, but again maybe not.   

I could see a rich guy seeing the way it was found as a loophole to not have to pay simply because people generally suck.
