Good, it might be the only input we give them that they don't stick in the crap can.

Great!!! lets ban this stuff once and for all!! we shouldn't have to belittle ourselves by using bait. for one,i'd be ashamed to say i used bait to take an animal. what do you tell your friends when they ask you how you took a certain trophy? well i put out some corn and salt and waited for it to come in.i'd be ridaculed to no end if any of my hunting friends found out i used it take an animal.lets use some common sense here. theres lots of other states that have banned baiting and they are doing just fine without it. there's absolutly no argument for using it in this day and age. you can't say that you need the animal for food or survival. your only using it too stack the odds in your favor more.

Wonder if this guy really uses a old indian bow or his old musket or maybe an old flint knife to take his game. HYPOCRITE.

 what makes me a hypocrite? just because i have a difering view? this is called a discussion forum not a follow what everybody else says forum. i don't have to go along with what the crowd does. if there wasn't resrictions put on hunting there wouldn't be any animals left today to hunt. look at what happened before game laws were put in place. deer, elk, turkeys, bison and antlope were nearly wiped out completly by over hunting. look, we have enough tools at our disposal to put the odds in our favor completly when it comes to getting an animal. I draw the line when you have to change an animals natural feeding habits to kill it.

HERE WE GO AGAIN

Gun vs bow , to bait or not to bait ,old school vs new school.

As said many times before hunters need to stick together whether you bait or not. After this is gone whats next??

I talked to leonard ornways assistant yesterday and I was told that this will not be a issue for this year , that it will be discussed in the december meeting at the soonest and if passed wouldn't come into effest untill september 2009. This is suprising because when I first talked to leonard he told me that it would be decided on at the april 2008 meeting. Now we have plenty of time to fight this rule change

Some of the above is true, but....a bit of clarification:

The basic rule will indeed be proposed during either the June or August meeting. The process from there for any major rule change is a multi-step one that takes anywhere from 3 to 8 months to complete. IOW, they can't propose a rule and have it automatically rubber stamped by the commission.

Now, once the initial wording is proposed, they must open that proposal to public input for a specific period of time. Once that is done, the rule making team must then consider the input and move on from there. Usually the next step is the rule presented to the commission in its FINAL wording if any changes are made. In this case, that would likely take place no sooner than Dec. 2008. Sometimes in regards to a major change, it must also pass muster with the Governor's review committee. Once all this is done, the rule cannot take effect for 60 days. Hence, the Sept. 2009 date.

As an aside, neither Ordway or the adminstrative assistant you spoke to are on the rulemaking committee. -TONY

This is what attracks my game. Who needs salt and feed. But those who want to use salt and feed should be able to use it. This is AMERICA. Don't change people's success at hunting. INKPAD13
