I always heard they were more closely related to rodents than swine.

I don't hunt them anymore - had to choke them down with a lot of beer (but then, maybe I need to start hunting them again!!!!!)

I recent saw some up in Unit 9 very near the South Rim - it shocked me to know they have migrated that far north.

About 25 years ago while motoring in a boat across Apache Lake, a buddy and I encountered 2 javalina swimming in the middle of the lake. The only thing we came up with why they would be doing that is it was "boys night out" on the other side of the lake and they were tired of being yelled at at home.

I think there is a strong possibility that those swimming javelina could have been randomly turning back into hippos (hippos being more primative because they're in Africa, according to the evolutionary stuff I learned in highschool). Random evolutionary mutations are exactly that - random, right? So they can go forward, or backward, or sideways. Funny how the theory has everthing mutating to the more complex. If its random, how do these mutations know which way to go? That would be giving "random" a direction, or purpose.

Wow! Thinking is fun! We should do it more often.

I don't care what scientists say. Javelinas are pigs. They have hooves and snouts like pigs. They root around like pigs.

They are pigs!!! and they taste great!!

Lark,

Your uncle is a neanderthal?! The monkeys in your family tree fell out on to the ground a little later than most folk's.

I had a dental hygenist tell me that people with wisdom teeth are not quite as advanced along the evolutionary chain as people that don't develop them. She told me this as she was cleaning my wisdom teeth.

Can't blame people too much, as we are brainwashed from grade school into thinking that the unproven theory is law. See it all over TV too. If we don't give it too much thought we just accept it: Hook, Line, and Sinker!

It's a powerful bait, and I guess we're trout.

I'd rather be a flathead catfish - show me some meat!
