TAM Report post Posted February 12, 2008 Yes it works, and sometimes it works real good if it's in a good spot. However, it's not a magic potion and deer don't come running. It takes some time and effort. It needs to be replenished every few months. Make sure do dig out a hole about 2-3 foot in diameter and about 6 inche deep to start with. If you use the powdered stuff then make sure to pour some water over it before you leave. This helps to kind of get it activated and to start leaching into the soil. Thanks for the info I will let you know how it works!! Already know there are some monsters in the area just hoping to get them to stay around for them to drop their antlers!! KGAINES Report post Posted February 13, 2008 With the talk of making salt and bait illegal for deer and or any species it can be in the best interest of those that are interested to doing that to maybe talk with people in a non public type forum. I can see both sides, and even though I don't use salt I would fight game and fish on this to the end, but then again if there are onlt a few hunters at the commission meetings it wouldn't matter they would do what they wanted anyway. I don't want to stir anything up here, especially since I'm fairly new to the forum. But I haven't read anything illegal posted here. I didn't even get the impression that he was wanting to bait the deer for the sole purpose of locating and killing a buck. Why are we so afraid of PETA? They want to eliminate all aspects of hunting, not just baiting. Should we stop posting all of our questions, stories and pics out of fear of PETA? We need to actively attend commission meetings as KGAINES wisely pointed out. If its a personal ethical issue than I would understand, but I wouldn't bite someones head off, calling them A-Holes for asking a question that is perfectly legal (for now anyway). I highly doubt that a post like this could be a deciding factor when it comes down to judgment day. I just noticed the apology for the outburst, but I'm posting anyway cause I don't think that we should be so worried about anti-hunters. So don't take this personally, please (really). Its not just this one post but it's the hundreads of posts just like it on this site and all the others. All the other Anti's use this stuff to fuel the fire and all it does for us is we get screwed because it will be eventually be gone. And it will be gone. It all boils down to "well if we give them this then it might quiet them up for a while" And we all know what that will lead to next which will be something else that's not in our favour. elpepe25 Report post Posted February 13, 2008 Shutting up about what we do and love does not solve our problems. Talking about baiting in the dark makes it seem illegal/un-ethical when its not. I dont care how someone hunts or posts, just the fact that they do. What peta wants is division in our ranks and by god some folks wanna give it to them. Covering up our issues gets nothing done. if everyone is hush hush about baiting and other LEGAL methods of taking game then the fish and game gods will take it away because we wont step up for ourselves and our community and scream bloody murder. We are doing nothing wrong or illegal. I dont know about the thousands of other posts, this one just didnt seem to be much fuel for activists IMOP. Hardly any of us go to these meetings all we do is fricken belly ache about it. MYSELF INCLUDED.
