DesertBull Report post Posted January 27, 2008 Well, another season is behind us. Now what? I usually spend these next few weeks getting re-acquainted with my family. When the weather starts getting warmer, in March and April, I usually maintain my mineral licks and maybe start a new one or two if I find a promising location. Do you think the G&F is going to make salt illegal this year or is it still 2-3 years away? I don't want to spend a bunch of time doing that only to find out later it will be useless. I would hope they wait and see how their new bow hunt strategy works before making any more changes.

SilentButDeadly Report post Posted January 27, 2008 Speak for yourselves! I plan on beating-up myself in those hills until sundown on the 31st, then I'm going to go buy some beer and mutter excuses for my failure until I finally cry myself to sleep. I'll post again in February.
Red Rabbit Report post Posted January 27, 2008 Quail season does not end until Feb 11. I have been making plans for a final weekend hunt near Sonoita. Then it is time to call some yotes. Kinda neat to see em lope in.... and find a free V-Max dinner. Don't forget that the trout are spawning up at Lee's Ferry right now. Looks like this spring will be a good one to kayak the Verde and Salt Rivers. Shed hunting. Anyone have some spare weekends to lend?
Huntn coues Report post Posted January 28, 2008 Well my denial will start after the general javy. The wife and I have Turkey tags in the spring so it will not be to long of a wait. Usually what I do if I do not have the spring tag is find someone to tag along with on their hunt. It sure makes for a loooooong year when nobody I know has a spring tag. It's usually a little late during the turkey hunt to find alot of sheds but I usually come across a few good ones.
jamaro Report post Posted January 28, 2008 I must admit that there is a strange feeling this year..... I was able to take nice animals on all of my hunts and that NEVER happens... I know I was blessed with a great season... I guess I am going to continue what I am doing and see what happens... As far as next season... I have three goals 1) take the kids on there first trip. 2) try to go back to back on an archery coues deer 3) take a bear.... Okay... So I guess I said it.... Now I needed to put the work in... Browning'sCustomMeat Report post Posted January 28, 2008 Well, I will sit back and relax and enjoy my family. I've been out almost every weekend since the opening weekend of the gen. antelope season. Feb. to August is the family's time. The 2007-2008 hunting season has been another fun, exhausting and learning experience. I was able to hunt 2 more units that I had never been in before and the memories will always be there. This upcoming week, I guess I'd better fill out my apps. for Elk and Antelope and cross my fingers I get one of the two, but both would be spectacular. Good Luck to all in the draw! -Jeremy-

Jason That's my goal too, if I do not draw an elk or rifle deer tag. Get a bear and another (bigger) Coues buck with my bow.
Coues Sniper Report post Posted January 28, 2008 I'm breaking down and buying a good caller and getting more into predator hunting. We can hunt coyotes, foxes, and cats year round up here in NV so i plan on doing that till it gets too hot. By then it will be time to start shooting the bow more for archery deer season. Which will bring me back to the fall and my favorite time of the year: Coues season. Can't wait already. I'm also pretty excited as we are getting a Sportsman's Warehouse up here (the first in town) literally 2 minutes from my house. We don't have much for hunting stores up here besides an understocked Bass Pro Shops . I'm actually thinking of getting a job there on the weekends just for the discount.
