Coues&Coyotes Report post Posted January 24, 2008 Well I've been a long time CouesWhitetail.com guest but now that my daughter got her first archery pig I finally had to become a member. Last Sunday morning we were able to get into a group of 5 pigs but after trying a stock, the pig locked onto us and bolted out of the country. Later in the afternoon after hiking into some remote country, we glassed up a group of bedded javelina and the stock was on once again. Everything was in our favor as the wind was blowing into our faces and the pigs had no idea we had slipped into 20yrds of them. I stayed about 20yrds behind Brittany and let her do the rest of the work. As she was drawing on a smaller pig in front of her, the arrow fell off the rest and she had to let down. This noise and movement alerted some other of the pigs in the group and was looking like they were getting ready to take off, so I blew on a varmit call and all of sudden this boar came charging in. Brittany immeditaley turned to her left and drew on this pig. The boar stopped quartering to her so I blew on the call again and his attention was back on me. As soon as he turned his head, Brittany let the arrow fly and hit him right in front and behind his front shoulder putting the broadhead into his heart. The boar ran around a bush and laid dead in a matter of 3 or 4 seconds. I guess all these years going to all of the 3D archery shoots really paid off when it really counted. As you can see, she was even using her purple target bow, guess it's a good thing javelina don't see very well. Hope you enjoy.
