stanley Report post Posted October 26, 2004 The weather is shaping-up to be pretty interesting for the Arizona deer hunters this weekend! I'll be SW of Tucson beginning on Thursday morning for my earling hunt on Friday. The weather report says maybe some weather coming through on Thursday, but then clearing-up on Friday through the weekend. Temps in the 70s... should be great weather. So how do folks think the deer will be acting on Friday with the weather clearing? My hope is that it is windy on Thursday, and calmer on Friday (the OPENER). I'm hoping they'll be out & about as the clouds/rain (I'll believe the rain when I see it...) leave. Any opinions? Good luck to all who are going hunting! S. .270 Report post Posted October 26, 2004 the better the weather, the better a guy feels about being out in it. the worse the weather is, the less a guy wants to be out in it. while weather will affect deer for awhile, like a day, it affects the guy hunting more. they still have to eat. they are still there. just makes it harder to find em. whitetail are bad about bushing up anyway, bad weather makes em even hold tighter. but i still think bad weather affects the hunter more than the deer. but i also feel that the first nice day after some rough days can be a good day. and any day with a tag in your pocket is a great day. hunt hard. TAM Report post Posted October 26, 2004 I will agree with Lark. The first clear day after a couple of rainy/snowy days always seems to make for the best hunting! I think deer are like people in that if they are cooped up for too long they like to get out and stretch their legs.
kwp Report post Posted October 27, 2004 I would agree that they seem to be a little more active after bad weather and I hope it is true this year as I will be in 33 Friday morning. The colder temperatures that are supposed to be following the rain should also help the deer be a little more active. I am just hoping and praying that all this moisture doesn't make it foggy Friday morning. Nothing screws up a hunt like fog. Good luck this weekend everybody. Guest Ernesto C Report post Posted October 27, 2004 Yes I agree,is also important to check to food sources after the rain, they'll be hungry and specially important or vital if you get way form the crowds. If you are not sure or do you not know the areas very well maybe the still hunting method will be better,if you are looking for a really good buck then I suggest to use a combination of both the sit and move method (glass and move) Like I said they be out eating and expect to find them in more open country that usual. This is specially important right after the rain. Just my two cents,Good bless and good hunting. Ernesto C.
