Flash Report post Posted August 3, 2018 My son got drawn for his first deer hunt. Unit 35a in early October. I've never been in the unit, but I am assuming that time of year the deer will be shaded up near or on north faces most of the day. Any other general tips for success in that type of area? Thanks. PRDATR Report post Posted August 3, 2018 Temps in that area are quite a bit lower than Phoenix or even Tucson and since it is an early hunt the deer should be fairly active. I wouldn't overlook open sunny areas.
bigorange Report post Posted August 3, 2018 PRDATR is right on the temps...first time I had that hunt we got snowed on. Lots of good areas to glass and hunt. Glass the same as you would any other hunt...
IA Born Report post Posted August 6, 2018 X3 on what they've said. There is also a youth camp that caters to 35A and 34A. I think it also includes 35B. Camp is at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds in Sonoita. I'll be there with both of my kids, who each have the 34A tag. There will be mentors who can take you out. If you don't want that, pm me and I'll point you in some directions.
