Jan in the deer woods!!!!

Recommended Posts

Well, I spent most of Jan hunting Southern AZ for everything that would walk, run or fly! Heck, we even shot them if they were sittin still! ;) See the "9 javelina tags" thread under "Other Big Game".

These pictures will be about the time that we spent chasing deer!

First off, Jim wanted a spot and stalk Coues buck and a javelina. We started out with a great weather day and then 4 days of wind, freezing rain and fog! :( and then ended with a couple of days of cool breezy weather. We saw 20 Coues bucks and got close to a half dozen of them drawing the bow on one with no shot and missing another Coues buck do to gusting winds slamming the arrow to the ground. Crazy! He did get a Javelina and we found some great Coues sculls!

Enjoy!

Thanks Lance for sharing the pictures

Really enjoyed them.

But, you need to set up a ground blind

if you are going to hunt water holes

And then Scott wanted to try to take his first big game animal with a bow and we went Desert (carp) Mule deer huntin! Dang those muleys were ruttin hard! We saw tones of big bucks each day. Scott took a nice three point at noon on the second day after empting his quiver on a 170" class 4x4. After that jon wanted to try his hand at the muley rut and ended up passing shots on some four points himself not wanting to end his '08 hunting quite so early!

We also saw a truck with a CWT sticker on it. Anyone know who it is?

He shot the muley with I think an old Hoyt and G-5 heads. Considering the fact that there were several misses involved I guess he should have been shooting a Mathews! Surly it was just the bow and not buck feaver! :P  ;)
