GilaCoues Report post Posted July 14, 2018 Hola, just wanting to make sure that hunters know that the elk and deer rules are open right now to determine the hunting seasons and license numbers for the next four years. Also, the elk landowner system rule (E-PLUS) is open for the first time since 2005. I hope that hunters will submit their opinions to NMDGF while the rules are open. Just seems that we hunters wait until the rules are approved then we complain about them..........Especially the E-PLUS rule that doesn't open that often......

Red Sparky Report post Posted July 14, 2018 It looks like 20% reduction of tags in the Burros for deer and the rest of the unit 6-9% reduction in tags. I haven't seen leftovers for sale in unit 23 for the last two years. Hunter run ins have been way down since quite a few people would put in for 3 top tier units and use that unit as a back up to buy a tag.

GilaCoues Report post Posted July 29, 2018 Just to keep everyone updated, this is the time to submit comments and ideas that will affect the elk and deer rules for the next four years. E-PLUS is open for the first time since 2005 when it was passed. Please educate yourselves on how this affects you. O-PLUS landowners (secondary zone landowners in current proposal) are allowed to hunt Oct. 1 with a rifle while public hunters (in GMU's 13, 17, 21B, 22, 23, and 24) have to wait until mid-October to hunt. GMU's 13 and 17 hunters are restricted to muzzleloader hunts.
