Here’s the story…. Started glassing Saturday morning at sunup. Found a herd about 1/2mi. away at around 8am. Watched them feed up on top of a hill then we made our move. As we were cresting the hill Randy(the guy in the bottom pic) motioned to me that he could see the pigs and they were close. He drew back and let one rip, it deflected off some catclaw and hit the pig in the hind leg breaking it. We trailed him for the next hour before we were able to get him in the bottom of drainage and finish him off. Later that afternoon I was up on a hill glassing and found one lone pig about 1/4mi. away. I watched him for a bit and he was the only one I saw so off I went to try and get him. It worked perfect as I was closing the last 50yds he decided to feed his way right down to me. I waited and the wind was a bit shifty but it all worked out ok as he paused for a few minutes then kept on coming right to me. He stopped quartering to me at 10yds and I let it rip hitting him just in front of his right front shoulder and exiting out his left hind quarter, he spun around woofing and took off up the ridge. He stopped again at the top of the ridge and I let another rip just grazing his back. I went up and got my first arrow and it was covered in blood from tip to knock with visible lung blood on the shaft and fletching. I had a good blood trail and was following it to find the pig bedded with the only shot available being a headshot straight on. I decided I would try and put one in his brain to finish him off. Well I shot a tad to the left burying arrow just low and right of his eye, he stood straight up on his hind legs, teeth popping and ran sideways about 15yds before going down for good. Sunday my father-in-law(middle pic) stalked in on another herd of pigs and got to about 25yds before he ran out of cover(this was his first stalk while bow hunting) he picked out one of the best pigs and shot hitting her in the gut(very excited). We watcher her run off into a thick draw and we gave her about and hour then went looking. It was easy to follow the blood/gut trail thru the draw but it was just getting thicker and narrower, well he found her face to face as she was rocked up in the end of the drainage with no way out but thru us and she didn’t want to run anymore so she made her stand. Teeth were popping like crazy and she was growling something fierce, he backed up a bit and tried to shoot her to finish it off but with all the brush in the way it was tough. He hit it once more and emptied his quiver and the pig was still plenty alive. He slowly made his way towards the pig to try and get an arrow back and was able to do so……man that was hairy, she was growling and tooth popping like crazy and I was getting it all on film. We then backed out a bit and he was able to get a good shot in her and finished her off.

Thats an awesome story. My friend had a similar experience. He emptied his quiver at a pig, and one of our friends, Mr. Olson, who is about 70 yrs old, grabbed the only arrow he could find, which also happened to be the one in the pig! He had a big stick in one hand, and reached out and pulled the arrow out of the pig and gave it back to my friend to shoot again! I couldn't believe it. We all laughed the whole rest of the hunt about that(and still do)
