hamboneaz Report post Posted June 26, 2018 Im in the market for a new tent. I think ive narrowed it down to a kodiak canvas tent. Currently looking at the 10x14 bow tent or the 12x9 cabin tent. Just thought I would look here first. If anyone has one to sell let me know. Best prices ive found so far are at competetiveedgeproducts.com also open to other brands and models. Im located in Queen Creek, AZ.
roadbomber1 Report post Posted June 26, 2018 I bought a kodiac a few years ago and have used it a lot. Between early summer hot desert hunts and cold windy icey hunts, it has held up very well definatly worth the money.

I really like the cabin tent I wish they had a 12x14 version.

roadbomber1 Report post Posted June 27, 2018 I like the awning to store my coolers and food in it helps out a lot plus if there is a good storm it's big enough for 6 people to hang out in

presnative Report post Posted June 27, 2018 Thought you might check out the Alaskan canvas wall tents. Light weight canvas is the way to go. Same marine grade used for boat sails. I have more than one brand and I am sure I would get an Alaskan next time I buy.
carpcody Report post Posted June 27, 2018 I have the 10x14 tent. I really like my tent. Not sure if I would ever buy another though. One of their selling points is their limited life time warrenty, all it is is a manufacturer defect warranty. That comment came straight from them. Last time I used my tent I staked it out too tight and when putting up the upright poles I bent both poles by the tent being too tight. My fault. I called because I wanted to use their lifetime warranty on the poles. The dude I talked to couldn't have been more of a dick to me on the phone. Repeatedly called me a liar on how I bent the poles and told me that was impossible. Said I probably used the poles as a crow bar and now want new ones. I'm not a big fan of that. I finally did communicate with somebody else over email and they were nicer than the dick on the phone. Bottom line is there is no life time warranty and I will try to never call them again if I have an issue.
tomharveyb Report post Posted June 27, 2018 I have the 10x14 and highly recommend it. ( Competitive Edge has the best price on them.) I can put it up in 10 minutes. Very heavy duty vinyl floor!
n2horns Report post Posted June 27, 2018 A buddy has the 10x12 bow and it sleeps to very easy. I does get a tad warm, but open the windows/doors and it airs out quick. I know several other friends that have them in different sizes, all love them. They setup with ease.
KaibabHunter Report post Posted June 27, 2018 Ive had the 12x9 kodiak cabin for 5 years now I think. A little more time consuming to put up (20-25 mins solo) but u get the awning and if u get the enclosure u have a bonus room. A couple minor issues with poles that with replacements sent immediately free. Not selling but recommend kodiak.
tjhunt2 Report post Posted June 27, 2018 I too have the 10x14 deluxe and the best tent I ever owned. It is heavy but a piece of cake to put up by yourself. Not wanting to sell but highly recommend it. ☺ TJ
hamboneaz Report post Posted June 27, 2018 Thanks guys for the feedback. Im leaning toward the 12x9 cabin tent. I would use this for family trips with the wife and 2 kids. And also hunting trips with my brother and buddy. Would 3 cots be crammed?
tjhunt2 Report post Posted June 27, 2018 Thanks guys for the feedback. Im leaning toward the 12x9 cabin tent. I would use this for family trips with the wife and 2 kids. And also hunting trips with my brother and buddy. Would 3 cots be crammed? In my opinion 3 cots would make it crowded. Depending on the size of the cots. My big cot takes up from front to back in my 10x14 deluxe. You got to have room to move around if the weather turns bad. I borrowed my friends 12x9, before I purchased my 10x14, for an elk hunt and found it ok for me and a table. I highly recommend you buy the biggest if you can afford it. Bass Pro and Cabelas usually have one set up. If you don't live to far take the wife and kids to check it out. ☺ TJ
rossislider Report post Posted June 27, 2018 I'm also a 10x14 Flex-Bow owner and love it. About as simple to set up as can be and is pretty much bombproof. Our family of 5 fits it is nicely. We put two of those jumbo XXL cots (for my wife and I) on either side with a queen size air mattress or foam mattresses in the middle that the kids sleep on. Hands down best tent I have owned. I found a smoking good deal on it about this time last year at Cabelas and was able to stack up some discounts and get it for under $400 out the door. I'm also strongly considering picking up the vestibule to go with it.
