idgaf Report post Posted June 26, 2018 i'll play devils advocate on this one, because its a slow time of year for hunting. I agree with him to an extent. I do not think theirs as much challenge to taking an animal at 500+ yards as is at taking an animal at under 25. I have taken 8 P&Y caliber animals and one 1 B&C level, I do not own a trail camera, I do not own 15 power binoculars, I rarely wear camo, I have never taken an animal with a shot longer than 190 yards with a rifle , with the majority of the animals I have taken with my bow I was using my 1st pin and the vast majority I did not use my rangefinder. The only animal I have taken over water was a Javelina, when I was eating lunch by a waterhole. As I grow as a hunter, I find myself using less technology not more. And I still consider my greatest trophy a forked coues I took with a swap meet recurve and walmart alum arrows. I do smirk at hunters a bit when they tell me they took an animal at xxx range with their 6.5 creedmore. That being said if you want to take the hunting out of the hunt and turn it into the science of long range shooting, thats up to you.
cjl2010 Report post Posted June 26, 2018 Whats the difference in killing an animal at 25 yds vs 500 yds?
idgaf Report post Posted June 26, 2018 Whats the difference in killing an animal at 25 yds vs 500 yds? The hunt. at 25 yards you are violating their safe space. At 500 they do not have that issue. try getting as close as you can, its addicting.
Couzer Report post Posted June 26, 2018 Im just glad there are guys like you Win71 that are man enough to realize they are incapable to make those long range shots. It takes lots of shooting discipline to keep on target 500+.
Zeke-BE Report post Posted June 26, 2018 For some of us we are to White to play basketball and need to shoot those three's or the coach is going to bench us.

No, neither does taking an animal 500+, its just not for me, personally. I have helped my hunting partners take animals at those distances and after the animal is down, I make fun of them.
