Saguaro Report post Posted June 23, 2018 The Colt looks like a Vest Pocket model. I can't find them in anything but 25 auto. Those go for $200 - $500 dollars. I would love to have it if it's a 22 mag.

360 0r Better Report post Posted June 23, 2018 The matching numbers on both are more than likely a persons dl# from years ago they started with alpha characters. As for it being a 22wmr Im seriously doubting that because I can find no history of Colt ever producing a 22wmr in a semi auto pistol. Now 25 or 32 yes. The 22wmr was not introduced until 1959 invented by Winchester by first on the market by Marlin in the model 157 lever action rifle
Big Browns Report post Posted June 23, 2018 When my dad got the gun from his friend the gun was loaded. He said it had 22 mag in it. I will get pics of the ammo soon.
Hoss50 Report post Posted June 23, 2018 Was it 22 WRF Winchester rimfire? That it is an old round longer than 22lr but shorter the 22 mag.that is more likely then 22 mag. It is a cool old round.
Hoss50 Report post Posted June 23, 2018 If that gun is 22WRF please let me know. I have a buddy who would probably love to have it to match an old 22 WRF rifle he has.
Big Browns Report post Posted June 23, 2018 Ok, mystery has been solved. After using a magnifying glass my dad was able to read 25 auto on the bullet. The pic is comparing the 25 round to a 22lr.
10Turkeys Report post Posted June 24, 2018 Number is probably someone's drivers license number. A few used to etch theirs into things in case of theft.
Mike S Report post Posted June 24, 2018 Number is probably someone's drivers license number. A few used to etch theirs into things in case of theft. Tragic but true...
4huntrs Report post Posted June 24, 2018 Wouldn't have been easier to just write down the serial number already on the gun?
Saguaro Report post Posted June 24, 2018 Wouldn't have been easier to just write down the serial number already on the gun? The old timers did a lot of that etching. My grandfather's guns have that too, not his license number, but numbers he came up with. I agree with you, it sucks but that's what they did. I keep a spreadsheet and pass it out to other members of my family in case I loose it.
