chuckster Report post Posted April 26, 2018 I picked up a leftover cow tag and I think it might be nice to get some different cuts if I tag one. Does anyone have experience with taking the rib rack off an elk while doing the gutless method? Looking for tips on what works best. Maybe saw them off at the vertebrae or chop with a hatchet? I'm thinking if I can get the ribcage off I can also harvest the skirt steak, the hanger steak, and cut some short ribs. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

rossislider Report post Posted April 26, 2018 Taking the ribs out without removing the guts would be like poking a water balloon with a needle and expecting it to stay intact. It doesn't happen.
