FIRST MULEY

Recommended Posts

Well, this makes deer #14. But my first muley, and with a bow. He was taken on the 26th at 50 yds. I was on my way out to glass for an hour or two after work on Wednesday because I had the following two days off. On my way out I looked around and just happened to catch this guy walking around a ridge. I pulled over, got everything ready for me to start stalking. I had to fix my binos, because the zip-tie on my bino buddies broke. So, after a few minutes I started after this buck. I came to the top of a little hill and started glassing a bit and found him under a cedar. I was stuck where I was, because I had no place to move to get any closer and I was still 100yds or so away. I snuck down the hill into a draw and came up about 65yds from him. He heard me but couldn't see me, so I held tight and didn't move. After a bit, he relaxed and bedded down, "What?" Its my lucky day! I made my stalk as close as I could get before coming to a stand still from all the manzanita around me. Now all I could see was his 3rd on the left side. I stood to where I could get a good shot hoping he would get up out of his bed. I waited a few seconds then made a ruckus and drew back. He spun around in his bed and poped his head up. I pu my 50yd pin on him and let one fly. He jumped and ran. I came around the ridge he came over, found his blood, followed it for about 150yds and found him piled under some brush.

This story isn't very long but i am very pleased with this buck.

Sorry about the frown on my face, it should be a big grin. I was talking to the guy who took the picture and never gave me a warning when he was hitting the button. I am really happy with this buck. If you want Mike, I could take another and post it.
