Non-Typical Solutions Report post Posted April 2, 2018 I know there is a thread somewhere that Apache was talked about but I don't remember which thread it was. Anybody that has experience fishing/camping Apache that is interested in sharing some info on how to approach that lake, I would appreciate a PM or email.......just trying to figure out the does and don'ts before I dive over the edge there! Thanks for any help! jwmortensen1960@gmail.com
trphyhntr Report post Posted April 2, 2018 Maybe someone that knows more can comment but I heard there's a fish kill there and it's all messed up
dmoto Report post Posted April 2, 2018 Normally I'd have jigs with green pumpkin twin tail grub trailers, dropshot Red Crawler robos and Vision 110 jerkbaits tied on. But yes, algae bloom has that lake in pretty rough shape right now. Sounds like it's also starting at Canyon as well. Just a matter of time before it makes it's way to Saguaro. I'd skip Apache and fish Roosevelt instead.
el diablo Report post Posted April 2, 2018 Yes, fishing sucks there right now. Go to Rosey. Its closer too. Went there 2 weeks ago for our usual anniversary trip and fishing sucked. There was a tournament the same weekend and only 2 limits were weighed in and 8+ lbs won. Algea bloom killed the lake for a couple yrs again.
Non-Typical Solutions Report post Posted April 2, 2018 I was actually more curious about camping.....can you actually get a small camp trailer down to the area and if so is there actually anywhere to park and camp??? That really stinks about the algae bloom.......
Roosevelt Mark Report post Posted April 2, 2018 Yes you can if you come from Roosevelt. Apache has nice camping, but so does roosevelt and there is fish in the lake.
