How steep is to steep?

I don't think steep applies to deer. If they want to go there, they go there. I've seen a coues doe go up a cliff that her fawn had to attempt 3 times before she made it.

I have seen this with javelina where they climbed something I really didn't think was possible! Like straight up Spider-Man crap!! Dig hooves in and pulled their way up and over, But they left a red behind.. The red tried over and over and could,not make the jump and the elders bailed on the red so we just backed out hoping they would come back for wee one

That's why I like the steep places. 99% of other hunters will be somewhere else.

I'm usually on top of the mountain by first light, looking down at you road hunters.

 

I have holes in my underwear older than you, but this tough old billy goat, can still get to the top. Maybe not as fast as I used too.

Back in my good days, guy's I took along wouldnt hunt with me after 1 day. They were wimps.

Enjoy it while you can. Even with the hundreds of miles of hiking/hunting unit 27, father time and a bad heart have caught up to me. Unfortunately my superman days of hunting are probably over.

Never have, never will. I can still hunt, just not the lung busting stuff I used to do. I usually hunt alone, and there is nobody around to roll me down the hill after I keel over from a heart attack.

I've seen sheep in crazy steep places. Mule deer in Colorado that were in some pretty vertical terrain. Seen Coues in steep country,but nothing I would consider too steep?

I have seen some places in West Clear Creek that were near vertical.
