35A Buck

Recommended Posts

Well this is not the Deer I got but was definitely trying to get to my setup. I went into the woods about 6am this morning and got set up with my bow. About 10 minutes later a white truck came up the road and saw my truck and then backed down the road a bit for courtesy. I watched as the rifle hunter got out and walked down to the edge of the wash about 500 yards from me and out of sight. Not but 10 minutes later...BOOM. I heard the crack of his rifle echo throughout the canyon. I then watched him walk back to his truck. I waited about 10 minutes, and curiosity got the best of me so I went to see. I went back to my truck and drove the short 500 yards and met Dennis. Never met this guy before, and this happened to be his first deer. So I went to help him recover the deer. 415 yards up the side of the mountain it lay by a single oak tree. Man that was a good shot. We drug the deer down and being this his first deer, I gut it for him. I followed him to his house, helped him get it hung in the tree, and skinned the lower half for him, he plans to mount this nice buck. Turns out after that, he showed me a couple of good not well known about spots in 35A, and made a friend. Maybe I will be able to post a pick of my deer prior to the 1st. Good job Dennis

Awesome buck. And, great example of good sportsmanship in the woods. If everyone hunting public land took that approach to other hunters it would remove alot of problems. Good luck with your bow.

Great buck and way cool story. I don't know if I could control the green eye like you did but my hats off to you for doing so. Thanks for sharing the story and pictures with us....maybe we all could learn something from it.
