Hunters education ???’s

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

Can somebody help me to figure out the AZ hunters education thing?

I do not have one for AZ but I do for my home state.

I notice in the AZGFD website that there are several different styles of education that is offered.

I would like to get one to have a lifetime bonus point so could I do the online course and take the bonus point class or do I need to take the full on hunters education class?

I would most likely have to fly there anyway I know to do the field day but work keeps me busy, if I could fly out and take the one hour bonus point class and fly right back that would be awesome.

Do I have it right?

Thx

You can do it online and then attend the 1 day live class/field day. This would fulfill the same requirement as attending the multiple live courses and would qualify you for the lifetime bonus point. Anymore, they recommend adults do the online option as it leaves more classroom space for kids, which is what the classes are structured towards. I have sat through the classroom version three different times, myself many years ago and recently with my kids. I would HIGHLY recommend the online option for an adults ;). For kids, I definitely suggest the full classroom version. I believe they will get a lot more out of it.

I think you can do online and come here to take the test and leave. They have one coming up in Kingman I think which is not to far from Vegas.

Thanks guys.

I think in order to get the AZ lifetime bonus point though it needs to be the AZ course, I do not think they would honor my states hunters education to qualify for the lifetime bonus point.

I think I will do the online course and come for one day.

I can fly out cheap enough.

My buddy used his Arkansas certificate and they honored it. He now has a perm hunters ed bonus point. It’s worth a phone call.

Don Martin is who you should call!

"For those non-residents who are still seeking a permanent bonus point and need to take the Arizona Hunter Education class to get it, the last Supplemental class for 2018 will be held on March 24th, here in Kingman.

This is a one-day class; hours from 7 a.m. till about 5 p.m.

Class size is limited in the numbers who can attend, so go to the Arizona Game & Fish website; look for Hunter Education, then look for the classroom section and for the March 24th date. Sign up and get your flight reservations made! Remember we are just 100 miles from Las Vegas.

The only requirement to take this class is that you must have taken Hunter Education in another state since 1980 and must be able to send your card to me via, FAX, text, or email. No card, no class; doesn't matter how old you are or how many years you've been hunting.

Anyone younger than 14 years old must have the Chief Instructor's permission to take the class and of course must have taken and graduated from Hunter Education in another state. This is a fast paced and advanced class; if students are not familiar with hunting, they may struggle with the final exam.

A local motel will offer rooms at a small discount for those coming in for the class. Give me call for details.

Graduate from the class and you will earn that permanent bonus point.

Remember the draw for deer and sheep is coming up?

Any questions? Call or text me at 928-303-9481."

For those who want to take this Supplemental class here is how to register step-by-step.

Got to www.AZGFD.gov, and click on HUNTING.

The next page you will see a number of blocks for information.

Click on HUNTER EDUCATION

Look for CLASSROOM COURSE SCHEDULE

Scroll down to March 24th

Click on VIEW EVENT

Open the green box at the top right of the scree that says REGISTER NOW, fill it out and you're in!

Remember to complete the registration process, you MUST send me a copy of your Hunter Education card showing you have taken and graduated from a Hunter Education class since 1980.

Send it via email, text or FAX (928-681-2838)

Remember, the class size is limited, so register now and get your flights booked.

If you need a motel room, call me and I'll give you the numbers of a couple places you can stay at a reduced rate just for this class.

I can put you in touch with the HE staff down in Phoenix. You can take the online class and show up for a field day, or you can get into a Bonus-Point only class when one is offered. That option was put in a few years ago for people like yourself. Its for hunters who have been hunting for 3+ years. Not much instruction; you show up, its self-guided and then you can earn a point from AZ. I have to run, but PM me if you want more info.

What about the states that don't issue cards? NM has gone to a cardless system where you log into your Customer Identification number and it shows your hunter ed number. Mine shows my CIN #, HE#, and HE Instructor #. Besides my original HE# was issued in 1978 so I guess it is not past 1980.
