Thieves suck...guess I got lucky

Recommended Posts

At some time since 1/30 when I last towed my trailer someone apparently broke in my truck. Stole my trailer keys from the console along with the display monitor from my trailer rearview camera from the glovebox (probably thought they were getting a GPS), roadside emergency kit, and cheap set of Harbor Freight tools under the back seat.

Got lucky (I guess) that I had loaned my backup Vortex binos that usually live under the driver's seat to my buddy and they didn't notice the keys to the padlock on my Hi-Lift jack also in the console.

Thieves really do suck. What a hassle to replace this stuff.

I was SO excited! I thought you were going to tell us about how you caught some low life POS in the act or after the act .....

I was hoping to see info about the beat down and arrest.

Unfortunately, if BO beat the thief down he'd probably be the one to get arrested.

Back in the old days of civility, we had theft, arguments, stealing a ride form someones gf, you went and had a fist fight. No tattling or crying, you went to school with a jacked up face and stood up to your punishment. What happened to those days.

I cannot describe how I felt when burglars stole all my guns, 37 in all! I had spent a lifetime acquiring them, and it still hurts. What really bugged me was losing the three muzzleloading longrifles I built from store-bought barrels and locks and the stocks and various parts I made. I had planned on leaving them to my daughter and two grandkids.

A few years back, I started a thread on here for advice after my truck was broken into and the moron put my item for sale for an unbelievably low price on Craigslist with a map to my nearest major intersection.

Long story short, I stayed vigilant with the local PD, supplied a serial number, and set up a sting under the disguise of my brother and a fake email address to request the item. We made the transaction under the local gas station security camera and although I had to pay for it, I got my item back and the piece of tweaking trash was convicted for burglary.

My only fear is he retaliates when he gets out but I'll deal with that because dang it felt good knowing he had to serve time. Hopefully he was too high to remember where he committed the theft.

OP, glad it wasn't worse. Btw did I mention I hate thieves?

You must not have much to lose or you don't care to lose it. Trust me the feeling was there.
