AZP&Y Report post Posted December 23, 2007 Got a weekday off on Friday and decided to see how much snow is really on the mountain??. Well first chair ride up and my question was quickly answered. With some previous meager winter ski seasons- The Arizona Snowbowl is off to a great start. With minimal wind and the sun shining brightly, it was time to test out the bowl. First run down with the clear, crisp air was a rush of adrenalyn. Some quick turns and the legs were soon feeling the burn. Then a stop to regain my breath and look back up Arizona's highest peak. A side route through the trees and back onto Lower bowl run and the stretch to Agassiz Lodge. A quick break for a hot bowl of chili, a frosty Sierra Nevada and another run down Ridge run, over the moguls on Blackjack and quick look at the clock at the bottom of the lift - 3:30pm - always time for one more run before the lifts close at 4pm A nice drive through Oak Creek canyon made for an awesome end to a great AZ WINTER WEEKEND! If you are a backcountry skier/snowboarder- A permit is required for access and can be obtained at Agassiz Lodge. http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/coconino/passes/index.shtml#bc Happy Holidays!
