SparkyAz Report post Posted February 15, 2018 I will be heading down next week for the general season hoping to get my wife her first big game animal. We are going to be in Unit 33 near Reddington. I used to hunt this area 12 or so years ago before I left for the military. I have been checking the weather and it seems to have been warm in the area minus this week and next. Lots of rain in the next few days tapering off into next week. Being out of state I don't have a chance to scout. Has anyone been out to the area recently? how green is it? What does the water and food situation look like? I have some spots in mind but they are old and I don't want to waste a lot of time if the pigs aren't moving much. If anyone has any info on what they've seen that would be awesome. No specifics needed just maybe general patterns or weird things you've seen. Thanks guys. ThomC Report post Posted February 15, 2018 We are getting a real good rain today. The desert will green up soon and wildlife will love it. Reddington Rd. will be a very busy place.
SparkyAz Report post Posted February 16, 2018 I remember it being a very busy area. Hopefully we can get into a group of them. If its a little more chilly and green out we wont even have to wake up early haha. We usually hunt just on the south side of the river (think its south) was planning on trying that same area. SparkyAz Report post Posted February 16, 2018 Well whatever side of the river separates 32 and 33. I knew I was getting the direction wrong.
Nitemann Report post Posted February 16, 2018 If you have old spots that held pigs in the past I would just go back to the same spots. Pigs keep to the same pattern it seems forever unless the herd is completely wiped out. I got this one last Friday in a spot I hadn't been to in 10 years. They were in the exact same spot as always.
BeardownAZ Report post Posted February 17, 2018 I second going back to places you've seen them before. I killed one last year in a area I used to see them all the way back in 1998 and I hadn't hunted in that area since.

SparkyAz Report post Posted February 19, 2018 No I am driving down Wednesday afternoon. Show up like Thursday morning about 4am or so. Get a day to set up and drive around a little, get my bearings. Ive seen there has been a lot of rain but seems to be tapering off this week into opening day. The wife is getting excited so hopefully we get her on some pigs. Went shooting yesterday and she was dead on and very happy. Thanks for all the info guys.
