cjw2222 Report post Posted December 20, 2007 We were out glassin today and spotted a white toyota parked near our trucks about a half mile down a hill, we had driven the quads up. We thought nothing of it a drove further up the road heading to another knob to glass new terrain and kinda felt bad for the guys behind us but we were first after all. Anyways we get back an hour later to the truck and our quad ramps were stolen out of both trucks!! It was just a frustration crime because the toyota had a camper shell and no quad was going in that bed. We couldnt believe it! Just twenty minutes ago we were all excited cause we bedded a rutting 105 way up the hill and were headed to get some food for lunch and come back to no quad ramps. Luckily we were able to park the trucks on a bank and lift the quads in and drive 15 miles to get new ramps but they were 200 bucks A PIECE! I think its absolutely ridiculous that a fellow hunter would do such a thing. its not like we were making a racket or doing anything bothersome we just got there 40 minutes before them and they were pissed. I thought hunting was one of the last relatively safe communities but i guess this just goes to show there are no gurantees. Anyways to the facts so you guys can hopefully keep an eye out... We were in Unit 22 south of payson near jakes corner. The vehile was an early 90's toyota single cab pickup with a matching white camper shell. Oh and the men in there werent even kids they looked 30+. unbelievable. Feel free to chime in and rant about comparable instances so i can learn just how skewed my view was. Keep a lookout and lock your belongings!
DesertBull Report post Posted December 20, 2007 Probably the same cornholers that stole mine on Saturday at the base of Mount Ord. How many ramps do these flamers needs?
coues7 Report post Posted December 20, 2007 I recommend the heavy masterlock brand "PHYTHON LOCKS" to lock those to the truck when you leave to go anywhere......I always lock mine in for the exact reason.....it seems that NO ONE can be trusted nowadays, hunter or not. Sorry for you losses guys. The frustrating things about thieves is that all of us work hard for our money.....when gas prices are up and we are all struggling to get by and enjoy the outdoors and then some douche bag comes along and steals stuff.....well you just wanna kill them! Sorry to hear these 2 stories
GameHauler Report post Posted December 20, 2007 A good way to keep your ramps from being stole is to park your truck on them after you unload. Just make sure thy are on flat ground or you will bend them. Isn't that right TJHUNT2 Mike
mattobertin Report post Posted December 20, 2007 A good way to keep your ramps from being stole is to park your truck on them after you unload. Just make sure thy are on flat ground or you will bend them. Isn't that right TJHUNT2 Mike That is an awesome idea! Thanks I will be using that one.... That really sucks that these a$$h*les are going around stealing stuff and they will probably never get caught. Last year my two buddy's and I were archery javelina hunting, I had just spotted some pigs so my friends took their packs off and went after them. One of them set his pack right next to the trail (not a smart idea) and started after the pigs. When he was coming back a toyota pickup truck with two older men and two older women pulled up and got out right in front of him and took his bag while andrew repeatedly yelled at them! It just so happens that my other buddy brian wound up down the road that theses people went down. I called him on his cell and told him what had happened. He said he saw the toyota and he was going after them! He took off down the trail in his truck and the thieves were pulled off the side of the road so Brian jumped out and we will just say that he overwhelmed these people with cuss words and death threats! They said they did'nt see any hunter nearby when they took the pack! Yeah Right! Anyway he got the pack back! Some people just need to be shot!
HBU Report post Posted December 20, 2007 I've been using that trick for a while. They will bend though. I found that out when I was borowing my buddies ramps.
DesertBull Report post Posted December 20, 2007 Park next to an electric fence and run your jumper cables from the fence to the ramps. Then sit back and wait.

mikep35 Report post Posted December 20, 2007 Keep an eye out on craigslist or ebay to see if they try and sell them!
Hunt7112 Report post Posted December 20, 2007 Just put note on them that says ramps protected by 300 ultra mag. Can you feel your ear burning right now?
TLH Report post Posted December 21, 2007 They may have been anti's or greenies. The first group don't want you to hunt and the second group thinks that the quads are ruining mother earth--don't think it was hunters because there are others who think nothing about stealing from hunters to ruin their day. Too bad you didn't get a plate number.
ghost hunter Report post Posted December 25, 2007 "...a white Toyota parked next to our trucks about a half mile down the hill we had just driven the quads up." Greenies...maybe Anti's...could be Hunters who are tired of seeing quad tracks where the don't belong (off the road and all over the country side)...makes you wonder I'm assuming you were on a road going to the top of the hill.. Can't stand theivery.
az4life Report post Posted December 25, 2007 That sucks! Whatever sub culture they belong to, their main class is Thieves! Terrible thing to have to read about stuff like this on Christmas! I have yelled at people before to scare them off from my camps when they get nosey and actually thought about lobbing a round across their bow, but it is tough to tell what is going on that far off. I guess a warning shot to let them know you are close enough to see them might be in order for white toyota pickups.
