bojangles Report post Posted January 27, 2018 Id look at Oklahoma or Arkansas. Close to Rocky Mountain states, still have 4 seasons, and cost of living. You cant be serious. Oklahoma? theres some nice quite places there. Why not? I was raised in the Midwest. Couldnt get out of there fast enough. Gray weather, humidity, bugs, cold, no mountains, boring people.... I could go on for a while.
AZ8 Report post Posted January 27, 2018 I will never leave Arizona. Born and raised here. When the time comes, I'll be buried here. I only want Arizona grubs dining on me! In the mean time, working in the Valley to someday get back home to Northern Arizona. I hate the Phoenix metro area myself, been here for 27 years, but I know it's a means to an end. One day I'll be gone from here. Knothead is right. I have family that moved away and although they won't admit it openly, I know they miss Arizona. My brother-in-law travels a TON for work and he lives in Flagstaff. He goes all over the country and Canada. He's had no issues with flying out of Flagstaff. Usually flies into Sky Harbor, then goes about his business. So that's an option for you. Good luck.

ctafoya Report post Posted January 28, 2018 Thanks, lots of good responses. I've lived rural before coming to AZ. I grew up in NM between Belen and Mountainair. I never have gotten used to houses not being separated by less then a 3/4 mile. My wife was born and raised in Mesa. All the kids have been in the same school since kindergarten. That's why we gotta wait a few more years. I know they have a better shot at a scholarship here then in a more rural school district. My wife's parents live in Alpine and we have kicked that around, but its just a little too far from the convenience my wife likes, and the airports. I have thought about the Midwest and further east due to a lower cost of living. The problems for me is I need to be around mountains, and further east is just overpopulated. With all my miles from flying I think we need to take a few trips and see the lay of the land in a few areas. Boise area with an airport close by, northern Idaho with an airport in Spokane, and what I really want to check out is around Kalispell Montana. They have an airport that looks like it would work. I think a two hour drive to an airport would be about as far out as I want to go.

trphyhntr Report post Posted January 28, 2018 My youngest graduates in 3 years. I hate the valley. We were thinking about Show Low area, but I'm open to other places. We have kicked around Idaho, Montana, and maybe even Texas. Work isn't an issue as I work from home 1/2 of the time and travel North America the rest. The only hitch is being somewhat close to an airport. My question is, if you could move anywhere in the US, where would you go, and why? take your youngest to Blue Ridge in Pinetop. And do what? Watch the wind blow shoot around haha Location: Payson
Jazz Report post Posted January 30, 2018 I've lived all over. The only two states I would live in are Idaho and Arizona. Currently in New River because I can't stand the Phoenix rush and traffic. But If I had to move- I'd go to the Redoubt. Moyie Springs or Bonners Ferry. Or- Northern Arizona, maybe by Williams. If only they had jobs around either.. I think they would target major metro areas not missile silos. Besides ours would already be in the air, hopefully aimed at California.
LifeFeedsOnLife Report post Posted February 1, 2018 I'm born and raised in AZ and seriously love this place and allow the unique hunting opportunities. I used to never imagine leaving but more and more as I drive around the valley, the traffic and amount of people in general has worn on me. Plus the growing amount of people from out of state and things like this attempted lion and bobcat ban have really started me questioning leaving. Problem is I'm still trying to figure out where to go more rural and still have job opportunities.

Problem is I'm still trying to figure out where to go more rural and still have job opportunities. I think about this a few times a day, especially the last part about job opportunities. I'm trying to be out of the city in three years. I too was born and raised here but in a small town. About the only other place I would consider is New Mexico because it has a lot of the same high desert places I like that are similar to northern AZ.
