brademan76 Report post Posted January 21, 2018 I've got an old 12ga sxs shotgun I'd like to extend the 2.5" chambers to 2.75", maybe open up the chokes too. Any recommendations or for someone in the valley who messes with shotguns? Haven't had much luck searching myself. Thx

DUG Report post Posted January 21, 2018 Don't think there are any true shotgun gunsmiths in the Valley. One passed away and one moved out of state. Try Briley Mfg. or Ballistic Specialties.
brademan76 Report post Posted January 21, 2018 There is a guy in the Barnone place out in SE Gilbert. But doesn't seem like he's very versed with shotguns either.

forepaw Report post Posted January 21, 2018 You have your work cut out for you. You might try the "Shotguns" forum on www.24hourcampfire.com or possibly www.doublegun.com or www.swshotguns.com I think true gunsmiths, especially ones who can work on fine shotguns without botching them up, are becoming pretty much a thing of the past. Back in 1987 I took a shotgun to the Gryphon Gunworks, on 12th St. near Camelback ( or was it Glendale - anyway, it was a couple blocks from Phoenix Shooter's Supply on 16th St.) for choke tube installation. Those guys were the real deal. Unfortunately, they have been gone for years. Another good one who is no longer in business, was Jim Cornwall in Kingman. Be prepared to ship your gun to some far away place and wait a while to get it back. forepaw

Mike S Report post Posted January 22, 2018 If it were my shotgun I'd start with Briley, Champlin or New England Custom Guns off the top of my head. Call the guys at William Larkin Moore and Southwest Shooters Supply and see what they think.
