mikep35 Report post Posted December 30, 2007 Man the last 2 fights were awesome. Chuck did fantastic, but I've never seen Silva fight like that. He is usually very agressive and attacks and overwelms guys. He got hurt early and was never the same after. He's got alot of heart for being able to take the punishment he did. Most people would've gone down with punches like that from Liddell. I'm ecstatic that chuck and GSP won.
COUESAZ Report post Posted December 30, 2007 GSP shows lots of class and respect for the fighters he comes up against. I am happy for him. He trains like no other fighter out there. He will fight sera and get his title back. Then it will be time for hughes to beat sera down just to shut his eastern YAPPER.
mikep35 Report post Posted December 30, 2007 I agree. GSP is a class act and is very humble. Although I think sera is a nice guy who cared about his fighters on the show, I wouldn't mind seeing hughes shut him up. I think he got lucky by beating GSP,but I don't see it happening again. But the great thing about this sport is that anything can happen and anyone can lose on any given night

ndaniel Report post Posted January 3, 2008 I'm a big fan of PRIDE, it's really disappointing to see all of the PRIDE guys (with the exception of Rampage) doing so poorly. Herring, Shogun, Gomi, and now Wanderlei. I was not able to see the fight but from the sounds of it, it seems as though Silva was not his normal self. It would be nice to see UFC adopt some of PRIDE'S rules though, would make it more interesting. Shogun was another disappointment for me when he lost to Griffin, not to take any credit away from Forest but I was just shocked. Never like to see your team lose I guess. firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted January 3, 2008 How about the "hired gun" Herring getting whopped by a nobody in his debut? In all honesty, I dont think anyone can hang with the UFC boys!
TAM Report post Posted January 3, 2008 Not to take away from the Pride fighters, but I just think the UFC is the best of the best. You're right about Silva, he was not as agressive as usual. Probably was trying to hard to pick his shots to avoid Chuck's counter attack. He took a pretty good beating. I still think he has the tools to beat chuck, he just needed a more aggressive game plan. Chuck was also spot on that night.
COUESAZ Report post Posted January 4, 2008 The hard part about Chuck is if you come at him to hard he will catch you with a solid knock out And if you set back he will pick you apart. The problem with pride rules is they will never go for that in the states. It was hard enough to get the UFC leagle in the USA. Im not for kicking in the face while the fighter is down. Anyways i agree the UFC is the best of the best that is why they are all coming to fight in it. I will watch Pride all day if it is on too. Fighting is fighting to me if it is on i want to be watching it.The WEC is good and the IFL is ok. RAGE in the CAGE anything. heck i will even suffer through the tap out show to see the fight in the end.

COUESAZ Report post Posted January 6, 2008 You can see the after fight with fox news just go down and click on the Matt Hughes with the black eye. I still like this guy more than anyone in the cage. http://www.foxnews.com/fightgame/index.html
ndaniel Report post Posted January 7, 2008 UFC has gotten a lot better. I won't take this to a UFC vs. PRIDE thing because there really is no point since they were bought out, but I do like the PRIDE rules a lot better. I mean after all it's a fight, yes it's MMA but in the end a punch is a punch and a kick is a kick. Thanks for that link, pretty cool to see Fedor submit that beast! Man that guy is huge. Flash Report post Posted January 7, 2008 We gotta see Hughes and Sera go at it before Hughes retires though! Maybe next december.
Laminated06 Report post Posted January 8, 2008 As far as M Hughes is concerned, I have loved watching GSP destroy him twice. Hughes needed to be humbled in a big way. I think GSP has done that. but now I do really want to see Hughes and Serra go at it. Serra needs to be knocked off his high horse as well. I do believe the fight between him and GSP was a fluke. GSP will be thinking about that and adjust.... THAT"S WHAT HE DOES!! After GSP wins the title back, I want to see Hughes regain his winning nature by unleashing the gates of heck on Serra and shutting up that stupid NY/Long Island accent for awhile. As for the whole UFC vs Pride, nobody can touch Fedor..... Period!
