Zip Off Base Layer Bottoms

Recommended Posts

Only one I know of is Kujuju. Anyone know of other brands that have these?

The handiness of being able to drop your outer layer pants to your ankles and zip off your base layer when things warm up (without having to remove boots) is a huge benefit.

Maybe they've got a patent on the design or something because I can't for the life of me figure out why no other brand/company is offering the same feature on their base layers.

Thanks

I have bibs/puffy pants. The base layers are for a different hunting style/application where there is no room for them.

I've wondered why you don't see them more. I'd love to have zip off routers and unders. Thought about trying to have my mommy sow some in for me. If I had a decent machine and the know how I would make them myself.

I've also thought about the same.

Basketball players used to have rip off pants. I think that velcro would work better than zippers. For coues hunting first you hike and dont need much warm clothes, then you sit in the cold dark waiting for the sun to come up. That is when you need something extra with quick on and quick off ability. And sometimes the weather changes. If someone would make with this new fangled lightweight material pants with velcro on the sides of the legs it would provide the adjustable clothing that is needed. Desert camo, wind resistant, water resistant, quiet, tough, and double seat. Nope, suffering in the cold dark wind is part of the fun of hunting.

Thats where puffy jackets and pants come in. Hike in and get hot and sweaty with thermals on and freeze all morning or hike in and throw puffy pants and jackets on and be nice and warm

If you do any type of hiking at all I couldnt imagine wearing base layers.

Some people hunt in places other than Arizona in October, plus they aren't arctic thickness base layers. You don't get the concept, but thanks anyways for your puffy input.

It was a specific question, and my suspicions were confirmed with no one having heard of or seen another zip-off option.

Guess I'll have to join the downhill ski club and pony up for the kuius. Flattening out my bill now.

I believe Sitka may have some but that company is so over priced I would never buy them. Also I believe Kifaru is getting close to releasing new zip off puffy items.

I'm surprised first lite doesn't but I've never checked, we just take a break and strip down.

Kuius zip off ones are very convenient. Drop pants, zip on/off, pull pants back up and keep going. Never have to take off boots. I believe their synthetic ones are cheaper than merino.

This is a COUES WHITETAIL web site. There are no Coues in the arctic. Maybe you should have made your post on a surfer website.

I seem to recall seeing sweatpants somewhere that had velcro up the side of each leg. Something like that might work as an easily removed base layer.
