Vegas for New Years - Motel Recommendations

Recommended Posts

Looking to go there with my son and staying at a 5 Star, max $500 a night. Just going on Sunday and coming back on Monday. Haven't been in years.

Stuff to do? Probably will rent a car here and drive up, would be nice to rent something "sporty/exotic".

Never had a problem with either growing up in NYC but just trying to have as much quality time with him as I can.

I am in Vegas often... I stay at MGM properties, assuming you want to stay on the Strip, rates change all the time.

I would recommend the following priced high to low Aria, MGM, NYNY, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, Monte Carlo and Excalibur. - Aria is probably the only 5 star- and is in the best location.

Next the Wynn or Cosmopolitan both are 5 star, these are probably the nicest properties in Vegas. The Wynn is not in a convenient place to stay (not much around it, have to walk....). Cosmo is next to Aria and is a great location, best part of the Strip

Downtown I like Golden Nugget - 4 star, but there is not a 5 star downtown

I would recommend a couple of hours Downtown in the evening no matter what.... its an experience.

what to do? can't think of anything sporty, a helicopter ride is cool at night, doesn't cost that much and doesn't take long.

I have stayed in a bunch of places in Vegas, but I really like the Palms. Its off the strip and has everything right at the hotel. They have been remodeling the casino and adding new restaurants lately. We stayed there five times this past year and never had one issue and the rooms are nice. The tables are also reasonable if you like to gamble. Ask for a corner room when you check in. Uber or Lyft is your friend in Vegas. Use either service and your stay will be headache free.

Another great one to look at is Green Valley Ranch. The Wynn resorts are really nice, but can be pricey.

We have also been to a lot of shows and really enjoyed the Le Reve-The Dream at the Wynn. It also has one of the best buffets in town. Have fun. David

I just got back, we went there over Christmas and toured the northern part of your state on the way. Stayed in Flagstaff on the way to and from, did the Petrified Forest and Grand Canyon on the way. Did Hoover Dam and the Meteor Crater on the way back. There were tons of people everywhere in Vegas, and if the elevators were full you had about 14 oriental people try to pack in. Don't know about motels/ resorts since we stayed at Blue-Green Vacation Resort since we bought in as owners. It is kind of like a time share but they have 66 resorts over the US and you can use any one at any time. Either use your points or bonus time, where you pay. It would have cost us $80/night for both the King Suite and the adjoining Queen Suite that we had if using bonus time.

Worked at the stardust back in the day before they blew it up. Lots of stories from living there for just a year and half. I bet there are a lot of advertised specials if you look online. Also there are a lot of tours you can do we did one where you fly in a helicopter into the grand canyon basin and have a champagne brunch next to the river. Also another that fly you into monument valley. Much better to fly there than drive in my opinion

They are spending some serious money upgrading

the palms since stations bought it. We are doing $200 million in reno for them right now.

Stardust was my spot back when it was still around. Loved that place! Then it was Bill's and then they got bought. I'm out of the loop now but last time I stayed at Tropicana. It was fine.
