He wants to put in for elk and deer. This will likely be his only chance to hunt for quite a while. What would be his best chance to draw an elk tag? I know it will likely be a late cow hunt for best odds. Also, it would be a rifle hunt. He has the hunter ed point only. I'd really like him to draw a hunt this fall. knothead Report post Posted February 11, 2018 Not sure but can your son get a tag from the hunt for heroes program or one of the other programs that give ex military guys tags? I don't know if they have to be out or military or not but might be worth looking into. From what I hear they have been having to turn down some tags because they can't find people to take them. This is especially true for the very short notice donations. For guys that have served their country this program has turned into a windfall. Good for them.
