Opinion on new F150 or F250

Recommended Posts

I am looking at new trucks and trying to decide on the F150 3.5 or the F250 gas truck. I don't tow or haul enough to make the diesel worth/cost effective. I tow a bass boat and load the truck up with camping/hunting gear. Sometimes I flat tow a Jeep and load up the truck for hunting trips.

Anyone have any suggestions on buying the F150 vs the F250?

If you arent towing, go with that 3.5 Ecoboost. Coupled with the aluminum frame, it is an awesome machine. The gas 3/4 tons are much lower torque to weight ratio, so they are going to have worse mpg and be more of a dog.

No brainer in my mind.

I have a newer 250 and drove a 150 for 13 years. I've had 3 F150 work trucks in the past 6 years. Get the 150. My 250 is heavy, has a lot of wheel hop, and is a much, much rougher ride. It seems to have less headroom too.

I've got the 17 F150 with the newer EcoBoost and 10 Spd Tranny...Had the 2012 Eco and this one blows it away....

Just in comfort, peppyness, gas saving, and does very well in towing get the 150

both are great vehicles. gasoline engine with the new transmissions are very capable. 3/4 ton has bigger everything for h/d application but the 1/2 tons have come a long way tword closing the gap. If you never tow anything heavy 1/2 ton is nice.

I have been leaning the same way towards the 150, the 250 came into play as it occurred it is very similar and I happens to test drive one that was similar to what I wanted in packages and price was very comparable. The 150 does fit into my garage, the 250 won't and having it in the garage is very nice.

Good point. My f150 fit into my garage and my 250 was about 4" too long.

Eco Diesel? Sounds like an F-150 will suit your needs. No reason to step up into an F-250 unless you want the room and seat of the pants power.
