Non-Typical Solutions Report post Posted December 13, 2007 And I am not liking where that road is headed......spent some time in Norway, went into a couple of State hospitals there. Not a pretty site......very socialistic country in the way it handles taxes, medical care etc.....but.....I saw a list of top countries to live in and Norway was ranked #2 on the list.....obviously they haven't spent a winter there and never been stuck in a hospital there..... DesertBull Report post Posted December 13, 2007 The way that I've always viewed this forum is that it's for hunters, but doesn't necessarily always have to be about hunting. I'm glad to hear what other sportsman think about these kind of issues. Is it just me, or does it seem like sportsman have somewhat of a more down to Earth point of view on these things, where as those city people who don't hunt or fish are broadcasting ridiculous poop from planet God-knows-where? Must be all that smog, it not only destroys lungs & causes respiratory ailment, but also make you turn into a liberal idiot. Or maybe it's just that we get away from all the commotion & rat race once in a while & slow down so that we've got more time to actually think about things. People that are raised in an urban enviroment are more likely to be acceptable of socialistic gov't programs, where as rural people are more self sufficient. It's not always the case, example - farm subsidies.
Non-Typical Solutions Report post Posted December 13, 2007 I think it has as much to do with getting out in nature and listening to the sounds, seeing the wonders, finding a dead deer that got killed by a lion and knowing that it was the way nature intended. Getting stuck in the snow or mud and having to figure out how you are going to get out cause you know nobody else is going to be there for at least the next day. Knowing that dad is going to chew your butt off for getting stuck in the first place. Having to use a pinecone or a broadleaf to clean your butt off cause there is nothing else around. Harvesting an animal and putting the meat to use as opposed to buying it off the shelf without even realizing that it is a dead animal even if it was bought in the grocery store. Lots of examples of why people are so out of touch, in my opinion with reality. Reality for me is that Phoenix, and big cities like it control the majority of the votes, and we are fighting a tough battle to hang on to the rural way of life. Packing guns is just one of them...... I despise the fact that my tax dollars, insurance money....goes to underinsured, uninsured, smoking, drinking, sexually oriented diseases, people who bought expensive houses and now can't pay the payment..........on and on........I'm kind of having a hard time making ends meet....wonder if we can get a bill passed to help me make it through Christmas
DesertBull Report post Posted December 13, 2007 people who bought expensive houses and now can't pay the payment There is not one penny of tax money going to that. The media is spinning that as a "bail out". Read the actual truth and you will see that the only thing happening is that the banks are voluntarily extending the current financing terms on some ARM's. One stipulation for even being considered is that you cannot have missed even one payment. The Gov't is not making anyones house payment. If all of the houses went into foreclosure the rest of us that have no problems with our motgages would be the ones suffering with collapsing property values. Imagine what your house would sell for if there were 18 other houses on your street for sale by the banks, who would be selling at rock bottom just to keep from having to pay insurance, taxes and maintenance on those properties. Non-Typical Solutions Report post Posted December 13, 2007 "If all of the houses went into foreclosure the rest of us that have no problems with our motgages would be the ones suffering with collapsing property values." But what brought all of this on??? Was it people hedging on the house market? Are these people who needed a house cause they moved into the area because that is where they found work? Were people a little bit greedy with the house market? Did banks take advantage of people offering something that wasn't really there? I really don't know the specifics, been relying on the news way too much, but looks to me that sooner or later the Gov. will get their hands in the middle of it....JMO

There aren't 18 houses around them up for auction up yet, but property values already have crashed on the real estate I own. Part of my retirement plans included selling off my real estate when I got tired of writing books. I've reached that point, but there is no way I would put a "for sale" sign on anything now. Does anyone know someone who needs an experienced author to write his hunting memoirs? Bill Quimby

billrquimby Report post Posted December 13, 2007 Hang on to that realestate......it is something you can't get back once it is gone....... At age 71, there are not too many years left to hang onto anything. It's time to convert some things into cash. Bill Quimby

KGAINES Report post Posted December 14, 2007 Bill I would ask you to write my memoirs, but I wouldn't want to waste the five minutes you could be doing something productive. You could almost wonder whether you should vote or not, since someone can simply make an order and it has to be followed, but they usually do these on situations that are under the radar or are not a big issue until it is done. they never come out and tell you this is what they are going to do and they dang sure won't do that right before and election, but once its done our only recourse is to file suit and prove that it is unconstitutional (more taxpayer dollars), instead we usually just let it go. Our governor needs to go, but with the influx of california voters who think that having her as governor is just wonderful we may never see her lose until she steps aside. It's not always the case, example - farm subsidies. dang Straight on that! I was an AZ Phx Area lifelong resident and saw that socialist slide all my life, but now that I moved to middle America the whole way of thinking is about taking care of your own needs, and then helping those who cannot do it on their own. People do not expect a government entitlement if they need something they handle it themselves. At least a LOT more than in AZ. As for deviants,, I have to say I used to work in an office where those folks were always switching partners ad trying to hook up with someone new. Seemed to grow bored easily or just enjoy the variety? They flaunt it and expect you to approve of it. Say or do anything negative and you were the villain. IMHO they know how to play victims really well! Anyway the office where I am now, I cannot say there is even 1 person out of more than 1000 that are known to be gay. I really like the change!
