Unit 32 Deer

I'm posting this here just because it seems like it gets more activity than the bowhunting forum. Last winter I stopped in to AZGFD office in Tucson and talked to a biologist on units to hunt deer. He recommended I hunt 32, so that's where I ended up applying for a javelina tag. I was successful in the javelina drawing, but after talking to a few hunters about places to hunt deer in 32 it sounds like it might not be as good of a unit as the biologist said. Since its an over the counter deer tag, I can hunt deer in any of the units down there, but I feel kind of committed to 32 since that's where I have my javelina tag. I know I can hunt javelina in 32 and deer in a different unit, but I would prefer to be able to hunt both species at the same time if possible. I am just looking for more opinions - is 32 a decent deer unit where I could still have a good hunt? Does 32 have a good javelina population? If anyone has any advice on areas to check out, I am all ears. PM's are welcomed.

My first advice is go check it out for yourself. How well do you know these other hunters? I know several hunters, myself included, that might downplay and area because we hunt a certain unit and basically have it to ourselves. The only way to know for sure is first hand.

Picked up a left over rifle tag this fall. Had never been in the unit until the night before the hunt started. Killed opening morning. In 4 hours of glassing I saw 4 bucks. Im sure you can find plenty of deer to hunt If you know what youre doing I guess.

havent been in 32 for a few years, but yes it does have good javi... take your time and glass.

Might want to target mule deer in Jan in 32 while you are hunting javis

Sounds like you have the Jan. archery tag for javelina. If that's the case your not stuck only hunting pigs in 32. With that tag you can hunt 28, 29, 30a ,30b ,31 and 32. All those units are open for OTC deer in January to. Though 29 is only open for deer from the 1st to the 15th of January. Lots of good opportunities to hunt both species in all those units. I have the same tag and will be chasing pigs and deer to. Good luck.
