billrquimby Report post Posted December 11, 2007 My son shot this on the morning of his 16th birthday in 6B. Anyone see a cow elk this big? My son is 160 lbs. The last elk I saw that big was in Africa and it had a trunk, floppy ears and long teeth. Congratulations to you and your son, Jim. Bill Quimby

mattobertin Report post Posted December 11, 2007 I shot a cow in 6B about 6-7 years ago that was pretty darn big, but was not as big as that hog! The one I shot weighed about 350 lbs when the butcher weighed the carcass. He said it was the biggest cow he had seen that year! I would be interested to see how much yours weighed. Red Rabbit Report post Posted December 11, 2007 Without any legs, I am surprised it got that heavy after 16 years. New age record also? Looks like all she could eat was that rotten log. Do you think the cow was a "thalidomide baby"? Congrats to your son on getting elkzilla for his birhtday.

kphunter Report post Posted December 11, 2007 I killed a cow elk on the 'rez that topped 500 lbs, but this one looks a little bigger. Any idea on weight? KP
Lance Report post Posted December 11, 2007 Not to say she isn't big. She looks very mature with the long face. But when I saw the picture and it looks like the kid is sitting way back behind the cow and holding his hands in the air like they are sitting on the cows back I'm pritty sure it was just ment to be a good joke picture Good picture! Congrats on his cow! It's great to see the kids filling their tags!

NRS Report post Posted December 12, 2007 "But when I saw the picture and it looks like the kid is sitting way back behind the cow and holding his hands in the air like they are sitting on the cows back I'm pretty sure it was just meant to be a good joke picture " I have to agree, the pine needles in front of the cow are 4 inches long, which means she is not as big as she looks. I think Jim is pulling some legs here

deernut Report post Posted December 12, 2007 OK, OK, Sheesh. Can't put nothing past you all. Here's the same elk without all the shenanigans the bear hunters use to take their pictures! You have to admit, that picture's hilarious! What is better than 3 generations of Heffelfingers spending a week together in the woods? How many non-hunters get the chance to do that?
