WTF is up with some hunters

Recommended Posts

I was on an elk hunt and decided to let this truck that was on my bumper for miles go by. He drove about a 1/4 mile jumped out and shot a good bull. His special needs son was jumping up and down excited that his dad shot a bull! I was very happy the way it all happened. Happy Hunting!!!

I'm really suprised how many disrespectful hunting techniques I'm reading on this thread. I honestly thought we had a better group of hunters on this site!

I hear ya. I would have just beat the ever loving sh!t outta the guy and moved on my way.
says the guy that peppered me with bird shot while I was sitting a pond archery hunting. 15 years ago I was about to shoot you haha!! Glad it all worked out buddy! Come on page 50!!!!!

If someone comes up behind me on a road I pull over and let them pass. I expect the same courtesy in return. Common sense.

Dead on. I think I might have broke the like button I hit it so hard. You have my vote for CWT driving instructor.

But it was ok to pass them as they were to the road before you were? sounds like they beat you to the punch and you had to hurry and pass them. Who leapfrogged who?

Now since they were ahead of you ..why not stop and say hey you beat me to the punch what is your plan? Maybe work something out before getting there.

Kinda tortise and hare. you were ahead but they still won the race.

If some body blew by me on a dead end road that I was on first( would not happen) I would do the same thing.

total d!ck move passing someone that beat you to the punch on a dead end road. Unless you were waved by(would not happen from me).

This is funny! I normally dont let people pass either but I got passed on a dirt road this year that didnt turn out so good. I was on a really Rough and dusty road when I seen someone up ahead. I kept my distance from the truck ahead of me since it was a long rough road and the chances were we werent going to the same place.

I look back and someone has caught up to me somehow and is riding my tailgate.

I keep watching the truck tailgating me when he decides hes going to try and pass me. He hits the gas and starts to go around so I floored it and wouldnt let him back on the road. This dudes truck was bouncing like crazy, his truck bed cover went in the air, came down and smashed into pieces Landing in his bed.

Then he threw a boulder that smashed my front bumper. I had my wifes dad along to experience his first hunt. (Not his tag) he started getting nervous so I backed down and let him on the road. He got to the truck ahead of us and did the same thing to him.

Maybe some will think I was in the wrong. Maybe I shouldnt of got heated when he tried to pass but I think its pretty disrespectful to try and pass someone that isnt offering to let you pass.

Not saying the op did anything wrong by passing since they waved you on.

It seems to me that he treated you with the same amount of respect as you treated him, absolutely none.
300RUM . What respect was he supposed to give? He woke up and got on the road earlier . If someone beats me on to the dirt Rd I slow down and give some distance and in hope you dont stop in the spot I plan on parking and going in on . I dont race passed you and another vehicle to beat you to a spot. The next day I wake up and get moving earlier.

“it was a long rough road and the chances were we weren’t going to the same place”

“I look back and someone has caught up to me”

“I normally don’t let people pass”

“He hits the gas and starts to go around so I floored it and wouldn’t let him back on the road”

It is admittedly a long road with many places to go. A vehicle closes up from behind moving substantially faster. It is not given the opportunity to pass. When the second driver finds a area to attempt to pass the first driver accelerates in an attempt to force the other vehicle to remain behind him even though he wishes to go much slower than the second driver wants to. why so much determination to keep the 2nd vehicle behind? Could have simply let him pass. It is definitely not nice to veer back in front of another vehicle and spray it with rocks. Would this have happened if the if the first driver had not accelerated in an attempt to forcibly keep the 2nd driver behind him? I Think my view of two drivers not showing respect for each other is correct.

I guess I could of been like the truck behind me and tailgated the truck ahead of me that was on the road first until he pulled over so I could be first. Or just tried to force my way passed him If he didnt want to let me go by.

I guess Im the dispretful one in this case as people say but I know I would never tail gate someone or force my way passed them on an unmaintained two track if they got there first.

Meanwhile......active groups are quitely gathering thousands of signatures for a ballot initiative to ban lion and bobcat hunting.

We argue about who should pass whom on a dirt road or trail.

If I told you what I dealt with on a 23 youth hunt this year...Any time I tell someone the story I hear a lot of "that dude would be toast" kinda responses.

7 guys in two rangers, tempers blazing, everyone armed. All I can say is keep things civil, your voice low, your tone rational...don't escalate a bad situation, and make sure everyone goes home.

Any time you are upset with what others are doing, take a deep breath, look at the situation, those in your care, those looking to you as an example, dig deep and find "that guy" who makes sure an ugly situation gets diffused as quickly as possible, with nobody getting hurt, and be "that guy".

Coach good advice.

My Father always told me from the time I was a kid, never get mad, in a argument etc etc if your carrying a weapon gun or knife just walk away. likewise if they are carrying just walk away no matter whos at fault. and that was in the 60's.

too many hot heads out there that can't control there temper, not worth getting killed or killing someone over.

Could add vehicle to that list. Why people would refuse to let someone pass or get mad when someone does is beyond me.
