Heat Report post Posted December 15, 2017 A little History for some who may not be aware but when an initiative to ban ballot propositions for wildlife was attempted in 2000 (Prop 102) we lost! In 2010 we tried Prop 109 to give us the right to hunt and fish and we lost! We simply cannot afford to let this get on the ballot. We will lose. I will keep beating this drum until it starts to sink in. Petitions with no legal ramifications will accomplish very little. We need to get talking to people who don't hunt! The Governor can't do anything about this if it passes just like when MMJ passed and when that stupid minimum wage law passed. They have no say on ballot initiatives other than their own single vote like mine.

The have no say on ballot initiatives other than their own single vote like mine.Who's asking the Gov to do anything? He has no power before or after the vote. What I object to is we are addressing our reps only to get a a stupid form letter from the gov office. If memory serves me, it's much easier for the measure to get on the ballot than for it to pass. To get on the ballot, only requires I think signatures equal to or exceeding 15% of the number of votes cast for governor in the previous general election. So there's no doubt you're going to see it on the ballot. To pass in the general election it only requires a simple majority of Yes votes or over half. In any evetuality, it's going to take a huge effort by all of us to be heard. I'm hoping groups like RMEF can help get the message out, perhaps newspaper, TV... Edge Report post Posted December 15, 2017 Edge I am not trying to get in an argument with you but a few posts above this someone suggested to keep sending the petition to the Governor. Forgive me sir, haven't seen any such posts here suggesting that but I have on other social media. By signing the petition not only is the state capital put on notice, but RMEF has your contact info and what we sportsman lack is organization. One thing everyone should keep in mind is HSUS's goal is to eventually end all hunting.
