Vegas Indoor 2018

Recommended Posts

Anyone else going this year? Never personally been so it will be a first for me but looking forward to it. Knocked off the dust from the 3d Bow the other day and got everything swapped over. Im fairly new to 3 spot but gives me a excuse to shoot more.

If your talking about the vegas archery shoot its a freaking blast. if your going to watch it its boring as heck kinda like watching grass grow in the winter.

I dont shoot it my kid does and has for the last 4 years. The warden and I just hit the casino for 4-5 days. She wants to shoot again this year but work and school is keeping her busy. if she starts practicing again in dec and jan w will be there.

South point is a great place as they have things to do for the kids so the adults can be free of them. movies bowling kids game room etc etc. burger place is pretty good as well as the small cafe on the south side. the buffet sucks balls. the prime rib place is fantastic as well as the steak house and chinese food place (daughter set up a dinner there for the bowtech team last year). the mexican place isnt bad.

we never left southpoint for 5 days and everyone had a good time.

but you gotta shoot like this for 3 days even in the young adult championships just to be in the top 10 shoot in the 297's and your in the top 40.

this was her practice scores average 297-299 for months prior

adults its all x count cause there are tons of 300s. flights are better for adults as the pay per flight

That's awesome, Thanks for some insight. Ill have to check some of the spots out, I think the wife and her brother and sister in-law may come and just enjoy the weekend. I've never shot anything but leagues. I need to shoot some spots and put up some scores haven't shot a face in over a year. I've been shooting on and off all year tho. I've only ever shot 1 300 think it was a 24x or something. With some practice I can usally put up 298's -299's always have one End that gets me. We don't have much of a place to practice down here so ill have a full plate trying to make it work but I really wanto try and do some good when we go so ill have to make the best with what I got. I got signed up for the Flights figured id get a decent run with it and see how that goes.

You will be fine. are you shooting the hunter class or open class?

get the biggest fattest arrows you can it will help your X count. X counts are key.

the booths they have is pretty good, you can find some deals but the thing about it for me is you can sample handle and see all the latest archery stuff and buy it there as well.

also thurday night they have a money shoot, lots of people there. The archery shop(impact archery) in vegas hosts it pays out cash. Daughter won her flight 2 years ago, even the pros shoot it.

you will 1st shoot a ranking round then the put you into flights according to your rank. I believe it starts at 6pm and it last sometimes pretty late depending how many people. last year I think they had like 300 shoot the money shoot.

its a good idea to get the fast pass as well. that way you can go and practice and not wait in a huge long line.

the only down side is the getting in and out of the elevators at certain times. you will wait 20-45 mins for a ride to or from your room . they usually opena ll the service elevators as well and that helped thins out a tade.

they will have a good time that casino is Awsum, we bring the kids daughter and her friends hit the bowling alley and movies when shes not working the bowtech booth ,now that the boy is over 21 he can hit the slots. funny reaction on peoples face when a 4 foot tall kid with down syndrom is sitting at the slots all night have a good time.

one other thing your bound to get a cold.so bring some meds what ever works for you. lots of people from all different countries and lots of kid. and the flu runs rampant at times.

keep me posted maybe we will hook up if we head up. and good luck to you.

Delw

fake edit I forgot get your room ASAP as they are usually sold out late dec. you get a pretty good discount with the archery code also.

Thanks for the info, Im gunna have to look into rooms soon, I was thinking of using out time share and getting a room although im assuming it will be a different hotel don't know home much of a hassle that will be tho? I'm trying to find all the info I can its kind of a last minute decision to go so scrambling to get everything in order. I'm pretty stoked to go tho never been to Vegas so me and the wife should have a good time none the less.

How's the $$$ shoot work? So Thursday night we will shoot for the ranking on the Flights or will that be done Friday? assuming we will be shooting Saturday and Sunday? I was gunna get the Practice Pass but ill have to look at the fast track as well thanks for the heads up.

I am trying to find the info its gone for there website as they changed.

basically you shoot 1 300 round ranking round Thursday then they Talley the scores and put you in your flight recurves pros kids all shoot the same no special groups.

then you have a shoot off. per flight also on thursday night.

Just got back from the Vegas shoot, it was pretty cool. over 3000 archers.

I signed Claudia up for the young adult championship. My bad but hey she shot with some of the best young adults from all over the world.

Thursday Afthernoon when we got in she signed up for the impact archery shoot down. $20 bucks some of the best in the world shot it.
They split it into flights after shooting a 300 round 15 people per flight based on scores.
then a 3 arrow shoot off.

Claudia took 1st in her flight. She shot pretty good 3 points below average and won $60+ so she was thrilled. Only time the kids get to compete against the best archers in the world for money.

heres a quote from a post I made on azbasszone in 2016 when we got back. the impact archery website doesnt have the info anymore as they changed the website.

but should be up soon they say face book usually has more info but I dont do face book.

I cant find the info from last year ether.

Theres plenty of parking so you wont have a problem . we stay in the hoetl only because of the kids and we dont have to drive all over the place. otherwise it wouldnt make a difference were we stayed.

the official VEGAS shoot starts friday am early.

That's pretty cool, If I can ill try and shoot it. Im gunna try and shoot about every Day between now and then hopefully put up a score or 2 every week see how I can do. Ill keep an eye out for more info. You guys gunna make it this year? Ill have to talk to the wife about the Hotel I could care less but you know how that goes lol. Side note does everyone have a hip quiver or do they allow shooting chairs?

No shooting chairs everyone as quivers either on back or hip.

your going to crap yourself when you see how many people are there shooting at one time its really cool.

dont shoot everyday, some people can but most cant cause they get too caught up in scores. I found what works best with my kid was she shot every few days. at least twice a week. cause if you go in thinking your shooting consistent 299-300s you will get disappointed your first not so good shot the your messed up for the rest of the weekend. its a mind game dont go in thinking your going to win go in having a good time and relaxed and you will shoot your best.

league shooting is good but then you hit the line with 300 others and your in aw and your mental game is off.

I'll try to find some pics form what it looks like once I get these machine sup and running at work.

If you are in the Tucson area, there is a league shoot at the PSE pro shop every Tuesday night that is good practice for Vegas. The lock the doors and start the shoot right at 7:00 so be there early to sign up and get some practice in.

There you go, shoot as many leagues as you can with people you dont know. this will help you prepare mentally.

shooting in familiar and or comfortable settings you will always shoot your best, but then when it comes to game time your off.

Yea I live over in safford I may have to try and make a night or 2 down to the proshop and shoot. Our local shop quit doing leagues about 2 years ago. I usally just shoot the bag Target at the house. I'm gunna see what I can do to maybe make it into the shop and shoot a score or 2 a week and just shoot at home the other days. Miss being able to shoot 2-3 times a week with others but what can you do... Think I'm the only one going from around here gotta find my motivation somehow but I'm looking forward to going.

What kind of scope set ups are you guys running? I have a 4x and a blue fiber on a light kit for 3d isn't too fun for spots tho debating a green finer or a black dot ?

I think I heard globe has a place to shoot Saffords a long way from tucson.

I used to hunt there all the time going down that way soon as it opens for archery.

surelocs were what she used, I didnt like them too sloppy then she got a CBE and it was really nice. then she got a Blackgold target sight and its the bomb.

depending on your eyes 4 and 5 powers are best for spots. dont get plastic only glass PLASTIC LENS SUCK. also get a quality glass it will make a huge difference.

I /she has a ton of sights laying around the shop on her bows and on my desk. also get a clarifiers (think tahst what its called ones for scopes ones for pin sights ) or verifier so you can see clearly.

she started out using a hha scope and lens 1 5/8 now cbe and one housing I make 1-3/8 with a verde plus lens

she was running pins in her site until I told lied to her one day and said I forgot the pin sight and only brought the dot. now she shoots the dot and loves it.

The sights above are for her target bows not her hunting bows.

the little pink diamond is what she started with and it was scoped and had a stab on in for targets and hunting, then got a carbon rose for targets and saved her money and grew a few inches and bought the 1st fanatic that came out. now I think she has 3 fanatics and the btx 28 which she loves for hunting.

the picture is some of her set ups the one laying down is mine experiance. shot one league I sucked and maybe shoot 50 shots a year with it. nice bow but her BTX and far better.

I may have to buy me a dot kit, Right now im running a CBE sight with a Custom Brian Stokes scope. The one im using now has a drilled lens and a fiber in it. I may have to get with him see if I can get another lens and a dot or may just try the other 6x I got laying around. I have a clarifier peep some place. I may have to tinker with it.

Globes about a hour- hour 15 from us I live on the Wilcox side of Safford so its not to much further to make it to Tucson. Im going to try and talk to the owner @ Gila outdoors sometime this week see if I can start shooting there maybe twice a week to practice on paper. The range isn't too bad just hard to see the lighting is not ideal for shooting 3 spots. May have to bring a light stand or something. Wish they had leagues would be fun to shoot and also have someone to shoot with haha.

is that the guy off of archery talk thats an optometrist or something.? he makes good stuff lots of guys here in phoenix use his lens and they are plastic I was told. but the clarity is fantastic.

he was coming out with an amber one i read last year that one looked cool.

What bow are you using for spots?

You know im not sure, My dads good friends with him. I started shooting for him last year and he built me a nice set up. My lens are glass tho? He did come out with a amber lens tho haven't looked through it also one that has kind of a blue hue to it. It Sounds pretty cool but haven't personally looked at one.

I have a supra I've been using for indoor 3ds and outdoors im going to just set it up. Its a older one but shoots too good to get rid of. Our last league series I managed to shoot 50+ with it. I know the bow can shoot just hope I can haha.

What clarifier are you guys using? I may have to get a different lens for mine. I think I have a green stamped one haven't looked at a dot with it tho but I know with a fiber it wasn't too bad.
