Recently purchased a 22-250, never owned one before. I do a lot of predator calling and have always used my 25-06, but its an old rifle and was given to me by my grandfather so I decided Id rather not beat it up anymore and have an excuse to buy a new gun. I also recently acquired full access to a reloading setup. I zeroed the gun and it shoots well, .98 moa at 100. I know the gun is likely capable of more with handloads, and I was wondering if anyone had insight or a good load to start with. Im not looking for anything extremely fast or hard hitting, accuracy is my only concern. The rifle is a Remington 700 adl, 24 inch barrel, 1:14 twist. Any info or help is greatly appreciated!

1:14" twist is going to limit you to the lighter bullets, 40-55gr. I used to sling the 52 SMK @ 3750 over Varget when I had mine after I found the load. Mine was very, very picky, and it took me years of tinkering to find the load it liked. It ways shot around MOA with 50gr. VMax, Nosler BT Varmint, Sierra Blitz King, Berger Varmint, 40gr misc, and 53 SMK. I tried IMR30301, H414, IMR4895, IMR4064, IMR4320.

I would say mine was one of the rare ones that it liked 1 load.

For bullets I've done great with any v-max from 40 to 55 grs, your 14 twist probably won't like the 53 gr. The 52gr a-max and 50 gr Nosler BT are also worth looking at.

Powders Rl-15, H-414, Imr4895, Varget, and H-4350 have all worked for sub 1/2 moa loads for me.

Cases don't bother with anything but Nosler or Lapua. If you decide to build a hot load just use Lapua, the Nosler primer pockets get really lose after the second or third loading.

Fed 210M primers are my first pick but the CCI BR-2 will also do well.

38.0gr of H380 and your choice of 52-55gr bullet and go hunting. It's not called H380 for nothing. IMR4064 has also always given me great results.

Another powder to try would be Ramshot TAC. I once tried loading a 60 gr partition for a javelina hunt in my 1-14" 22-250, but the bullet key-holed at 100 yards. Current load is using 50gr Hornady V-max, TAC and Fed210M.

My Tikka 14 twist loved the Hornady Superformance 50gn Vmax's so thats the bullet I used for load development. I ended up at 37.5gn of Varget in Hornady cases @ 3980 fps. I soon found out that the Hornady brass doesn't hold up and new primers would just fall out. A switch to Lapua brass landed me at 36.9gn of Varget but I still need to figure out my velocity.

Whatever combo you end up using you will love it. Absolute hammer on coyotes.

I tried a number of bullets and powders in my 22-250 in the 50gr range, reached out to Lance for some insight and kept playing with it and my gun just didn't like the 50gr and above bullets. Granted it would shot moa which was fine for killing coyotes, etc. but wanted to see if I could do better. I ended up with a 45gr Sierra Spitzer and Benchmark powder, to get in the .5 MOA range.

Thats the only round that does well in my rifle so far. I ended up with ~.75 moa group with that ammo. The rifle refuses to group flat base bullets of any weight. Ill probably stick with the 50 gr vmax, although they make 35 and 40 grain vmax boat tails that I may take a look at as well
