coocoo4coues Report post Posted December 4, 2007 Ok here's a real stupid question for all you blind experts. I just bought an Ameristep Doghouse blind, and can't break the dam thing down. I've tried for several hours, following the half @#$ instructions, with no luck. Any tips? I'm about to rip into this thing with my hack saw.
willhunt4coues Report post Posted December 4, 2007 Hang in there they are a pain in the a$$. Sorry to laugh but I have one too and the best thing to do is bend it over and twist. ( Keep your mind out of the gutter ). Try it just like your windshield covers. good luck you will get it though. Pay attention to what you are doing so when it does collapse you can remember how to do it again. clay
elpepe25 Report post Posted December 4, 2007 i have one and they are a pain, i just do like the instructions say and when you fold it over try to roll one hand under the other (think palms up, clapping twisting motion, one hand over one hand under tho). i never ever get it like it was new outta the package, but i can make it fit in the stupid bag. Have you shot outta it yet, i found it to be a real tight fit and i have a 27" draw. i found that if i drew corner to corner then shift over to the window i was ok. also try to find a really low chair like a stadium seat so your level w/ the window and your not ducking to look outta it or shoot
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted December 4, 2007 I have one like that and I can never get it back down. But my husband folds it up with no effort at all. I have no idea what he does that I am not doing! Drives me nuts! I sympathize with you! Amanda
GameHauler Report post Posted December 5, 2007 I have 2 brickhouses and they are Diff. but they do kick my butt every once and a while. Have fun with it, maybe call a friend and watch them do it in 2 seconds. I still have a smile on my face picturing you Mike
coueshunter84 Report post Posted December 5, 2007 they are actually pretty easy once you get the hang of it. fold it up into the big circle, hold it together and pull both sides in at once. bracing it against your body. When the sides touch in front of you, hold it with one hand and push the top down away from you. The sides will overlap, and the bottom of the circle should end up outside of the top of the circle as the top goes down. It should all fold pretty easy after that. The only problem might be getting the folds to go into each other due to the fabric. Then all you have to do is work it back a forth a few times , and that should do it. Just dont turn loose of it anywhere in the middle of the process as it will get you in the nose or the chin..LOL I have one of the cheapy ameristeps for the little ones to hunt out of when they get tired of tromping the hills. Just takes a little practice.

DesertBull Report post Posted December 5, 2007 I have 2 brickhouses and they are Diff. but they do kick my butt every once and a while. Have fun with it, maybe call a friend and watch them do it in 2 seconds. I still have a smile on my face picturing you Mike I picture a scene like National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation when Clark Griswold finds out he got the Jelly of the Month Club for a Christmas bonus. Where do you think you're going? Nobody's leaving. Nobody's walking out on this fun, old-fashioned family Christmas. No, no. We're all in this together. This is a full-blown, four-alarm holiday emergency here. We're gonna press on, and we're gonna have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny beeping Kaye. And when Santa squeezes his fat white a** down that chimney tonight, he's gonna find the jolliest bunch of ***holes this side of the nuthouse. I want to look him straight in the eye and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, bloodsucking, dog-kissing, brainless, d**kless, hopeless, heartless, fat-a**, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey **** he is. Hallelujah. Holy s**t. Where's the Tylenol?
Outdoor Writer Report post Posted December 5, 2007 Ok here's a real stupid question for all you blind experts. I Actually, I can't understand why you asked all the blind experts. If they can't see it, how the heck would they know how to take it down?? Maybe you should repost the question for someone with good eyesight. Now, if it makes you feel any better, I have a small 2-man tent that likely folds much the same, and it usually takes me an hour to figure it out each time. And I can see! -TONY
