tommat Report post Posted December 4, 2007 Does anyone know why the area around Alpine is not open for the late archery hunt for deer. We got invited to a friends cabin the last week of Dec and I thought I might take my bow for a walk and bump into a deer but checking the regs, units 1 and 27 are only open for deer in the early hunt. I believe they closed the december archery hunt in 27 to help take the pressure off of the rutting mule deer because of the dwindling population. I am going up to 27 to hunt in January. Snapshot Report post Posted December 7, 2007 It can be questionable that time of year. I watch the weather reports carefully. If it is too brutal, I will stay down here in Southern AZ and hunt. If there is a chance of heavy snow I won't go, cause it is remote and I don't want to get snowed in, especially pulling a travel trailer.
