Canadian Mining Company Keen On Green Valley 12-03-2007 7:57 AM (Tucson, AZ) -- Pima County will weigh in on a Canadian-based mining corporation's plan to build a pipeline to bring CAP water to Green Valley. Augusta Resource Corporation wants to mine copper on private land within Corondao National Forest in the Santa Rita Mountains. The corporation is offering the Community Water Company of Green Valley 15-million-dollars to build a pipeline from the Central Arizona Project terminus to Green Valley. Green Valley suffers from excessive groundwater pumping, a lack of recharge and a sulfate plume spreading east from the mines that are west of Interstate-19. The county Board of Supervisors will consider a resolution Tuesday.
