KGAINES Report post Posted December 6, 2007 The last time I checked Christmas is a national holiday, we have a lot of holidays that are celebrated and this is the one that gets picked on the most. Over the years it has gotten far removed from what was its original purpose, celebrating the birth of Christ. Now it is a for profit holiday that retail stores absolutely love, they really don't care what its called and if the name and meaning changes to get them more money all the better at least for them. How many kids today relate Christmas to Christ, or would it be santa and rudolf. The last time I checked I am pretty sure In God We Trust is on all U.S. coins and bills, probably won't be long before that changes, the pledge will be changed, as a matter of fact some well to do group will get together and change the complete history of the U.S., a country that for the most part was made the great country that it is today from some very forward thinking, patriots that were mostly Christians. Wasn't it just yesterday a muslim country had to pardon, let me say that again pardon a teacher for allowing her students to name a teddy bear muhammad, they wanted to kill her, they did try, and sentence her to prison. I thought we as a country got past that a few hundred years ago, we might say you are going to heck for ypour beliefs nowdays, but we don't speed up the process for you, religous freedom and religous fanatics are different, don't force your religion on me, but at the same time don't try and take my religion from me. We don't protest all the other holidays, just shut up and let us have ours. As far as the life partners thing goes, what is the criteria for life partner, are college roomates going to be allowed to get the benefits, what about people that share apartments or houses, when can it be brother and sister, sister and sister, brother and brother, heck best friends can line up for this one just for the benefits, there is probably some sicko out there that will fight in court (that we have to pay for) that his dog is his life partner and should get benefits.
