Big or Bust Report post Posted October 30, 2017 Finished up an elk hunt earlier this week. Tough hunt, hot, but wet. Post rut. Had been seeing this bull all week and waited until the last day. We knew he was about half the man he used to be but I do feel honored to have had an opportunity at this old warrior. He had scars all over him. His main bean snapped off below his brow, the top of his remaining beam was missing,and he had what looked like a big wound on his skull from the fight. But he was still doing his thing. Was prepared for a longish shot but was presented a shot from a bit over 200 yards. Dead right there..280 Ackley, 168 Berger. Recovered a Berger under offside hide after a quartering-to shot. Bullet did fantastic and couldn't ask for more. Had two good buddies along for the ride which is always better when you kill a big bodied bull...grin....
