MULEPACKHUNTER Report post Posted October 22, 2017 Note 47 unit 20a , the way I read it I can hunt in this area as long as I'm 1/4 mile from building? So why put the note in there since that's the rules anywhere? Or am I reading it wrong and the whole area is off limits?

HuntHarder Report post Posted October 22, 2017 I think this is mainly for Archery. You are allowed to hunt within a 1/4 mile of a building in most units, but there are a few that you are not allowed to. I think it started with all the Metro units but has slowly transitioned into more units.
Couzer Report post Posted October 23, 2017 Just got done reading it. To me you are allowed to hunt within 1/4 of a building if it is not occupied from the general rules. But this clearly states occupied or not, if there is a building there it is OFF limits within a 1/4 of a mile. Thanks Huntharder for your post on the archery, makes sense now. For example if you find a water station building, power supply building, a vacant house, abandon old cabin, any type of structure as a building, it is OFF limits within a 1/4 of it in unit 20a for the areas that have been outlined in note 47. 4Falls Report post Posted October 23, 2017 This was put in there due to an incident that happened around the Prescott area a few years ago. Made the papers.
MULEPACKHUNTER Report post Posted October 23, 2017 Ok cool, thought I messed up big time, it's not my main focus area but we are camped there and it would be nice to hunt from camp a few days if needed. There is a lot of private in there I can see the issue, I'll have no problem being 1/4 mile away but they named off a big chuck in there

Actually the state hunting regs allowed municipalities to supercede the state reg. if municipalities wanted to allow hunting but thought 1/4 mile wasn't prudent. EX: I hunt a lot in Peoria, Metro unit. Minimum distance discharging a firearm to an occupied structure, while hunting or target practising in Peoria, is 1 mile.
