DUG Report post Posted November 30, 2007 Santa may bring me a pair. But she, I mean he, wants to know what to get. I looked at both at SW and actually liked the SLC better for what little time I looked through them. These will be for all around use. I want to know what you all think. I know there is about 400 bucks difference in price. Am I going to see that when I look through them? I have looked through 10x42 EL and Ryans 15x SLC on a pig hunt and now know they are way better than anything I have. Thanks for your replies.
Coues Sniper Report post Posted November 30, 2007 I really like the EL's myself, but both are great glass.
Red Rabbit Report post Posted November 30, 2007 DUG. Have you looked through the Leica Ultravids to compare to the EL's? Look/compare resolution, contrast, edge-to-edge sharpness, ergonomics, and color rendition. Doug @ Cameraland has some great prices on Ultravid demos less than SLCs new (trying to save Santa some $). He might be able to get you a pair of 10+15 Leica Duovid demos for less than new EL's, then you would not have to spend moer for a separate pair of 15's. My Duovids weigh nearly the same as 10x50s and save two+ pounds over having two binos (10x and 15x). Doug~RR
mattobertin Report post Posted November 30, 2007 I have a pair of 10x50 SLC's and love them, but I have not looked through the EL's enough to accurately compare the two.
HBU Report post Posted December 1, 2007 I have some 10x42 els and love them. I think it's the same glass in both the els and the slcs. The els are a little bit lighter. Anyway I don't think you can go wrong either way. I wish your same santa would come to my house.
DUG Report post Posted December 12, 2007 I'm getting the SLC today but they have to go right under the tree. Darn!
elpepe25 Report post Posted December 12, 2007 i personally see no difference between the EL and SLC optically, i did like how light the ELs were and how comfy they were to hold
Diamondbackaz Report post Posted December 14, 2007 10X50's will be much brighter in low light conditions than the 10x42's.
