DirtyApple Report post Posted October 23, 2017 A couple places I have seen plenty of cows.....Houston Mesa Rd, just north of Shoofly.....there is a road just north heading back to the east. It will take you back to Childress Tank. Back behind there in the junipers, cows have been moving. FR 198 off Houston Mesa Rd, take the road east and before you start your climb up the hill, I have seen cows crossing the road from east to west. they love to hang in the shrubs on the north side of 198 between the hill and Houston Mesa Rd. Continue north on FR198 to the top of the hill to the cattle guard. Just on the north side of the cattle guard is quad road to the east. This trail follows a fence line on the southside of the trail. About a half mile back the cows and bulls like to jump the fence and head north. There is a tank back there called White tank. You can also continue following this trail east around towards Diamond point. It is a hump but you will find cows on the southside of the trail and down the hill. Good luck.
