Do you have $ to get a better pair of binos? 15's are the standard but if you had to go cheaper and lower power id say a minimum of ten power. 12's could be a good compromise. You want to be sure before you go hike a mile for a doe. If you can not upgrade any gear, maybe try finding a pinch point of traveling route to water and just sit it.
